I second Scambigol! You'd think after 500+ quizzes the ideas would start to run dry but they just keep coming and coming... :) (PS - The islands near Hawar are all Bahraini, which makes Qatar closer than Saudi, and the UAE, being eastwards, a bit closer than the stated distance)
Haha thanks - but coming from the guy with 800+ quizzes.
I've edited the Bahrain one, and added 'excluding territories to the top'. I knew I'd probably got something wrong but that a JetPunker would correct me - the fact that you know that some random islands are apart of Bahrain is extremely impressive!
Middle Island on the King Fahd Causeway is an artificial island and consists of reclaimed land. As it was built by humans it doesn't count as an official land border. It was essentially built to have a point where there is an official border where you can have passport control and such. No one lives there its just an security and passport control centre built in the ocean. I guess thats why most of the world doesn't comsider it a real land border, because they built it purely for admin
Not sure if you treat the Faroe Islands as an independent country or part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but either way Faroes/Denmark are 416 mi / 670 km from Ireland; also T & T is closer to St L at Tobago.
Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guiana are departments of France, just in the same way Alaska and Hawaii are states of the USA. They are not just "territories".
The United Kingdom isn't a country, it's a sovereign state. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why Wales, Scotland, and England weren't being accepted! :)
The countries that the Quizmaster counts are the 193 UN recognized countries (which includes the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) and three not recognized by the UN or an observer state (Vatican City, Taiwan, and Kosovo).
The United Kingdom is currently a country in the same way Planet Hollywood is a planet, and should therefore be included on the planets of the Solar system quiz.
Scoring depends on how well the others have scored. There are quizzes where you miss just one answer and get 1/5, because so many people get all the answers.
Andorra is a about 1250 km away from Ireland. But I wonder why you questioned Andorra and not Spain which would definitely come way before Andorra. But Spain is also about 1050 km away.
I got all the others fairly easy, yet REALLY struggled with the Ireland one, and guess which country I'm currently living in? You guessed it... Ireland! Did not think to try countries further east of France, instead trying Iceland, Spain, Portugal and Andorra. D'oh -.-
Well, the France on Saint Lucia really tripped me up because for some reason I automatically assumed it was referring to Guyane and forgot about Martinique (and Guadeloupe)
I ended up in this quiz through the "random" button. In the box with my record, which one sees before taking the quiz it said that my best result is 35/38. I took the quiz again and completed it with time left. As I went to "more stats" I saw that I've taken the quiz 4 times already (not counting today) and only the last result was not 100%. Nonetheless, this was the result shown as my best score.
At first, I thought that it's because the quiz was updated, but all my results (again, not counting the one today) are from 2016 or earlier, i.e. before the last update.
I don't know if it's a bug and it doesn't really bother me, but I thought the Quizmaster should know. :)
some french overseas regions arent even territories,, theyre overseas departments and as much part of france as corsica or paris. same thing as with hawaii
Bahrain's Hawar islands are just off the coast of Qatar, and apparently the border crossing between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia on Middle Island doesn't count (I don't know why).
Taiwan is de facto an independent nation, which is what makes a JetPunk country.

to Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, St. Barts, St. Kitts, etc., (As a matter
of fact, in the past [don't know if they still do] LIAT Airways used
Antigua as the midway point between the southern islands and the northern ones, with Antigua being the "layover" spot at which to change planes.
#1, #2 and #3
Shouldn't I have gotten like 4/5 points??
Thanks for helping out
