I love the Scotland one! I wonder if it'd make it easier to say it's the pattern too? Especially in socks.

Amazed the percentage of people who got that one is as high as it is. As a Brit I struggled with it.

My answer was an educated guess based on what I know that pattern to be called. Otherwise, I know exactly zero counties in Scotland.

That's because we do not have counties in Scotland

I live in Angus, Scotland so that was my first guess. Then Aberdeenshire before finally noticing the pattern

I'm glad you said something. I was pronouncing it Ar-Gill. The socks are pretty well known, I just never knew how it was spelt.

Argyll must be famous for the fabric in the US? No way 30% of people have heard of the place.

It could be a case of guessing Scottish things starting with A? I guessed Ayrshire then Argyle

I knew because of Sheldon Cooper's argyll socks.

I live in New Zealand and I got it because of the socks. I didn't know it was also the name of a county in Scotland.

I knew the fabric/pattern. Wasn't aware there was a county by the same name. Only other time I recall hearing the name was when applied to William Wallace's uncle in the movie Braveheart.

It's not the fabric so much as the socks - cliche footwear for all nerds and geeks. In the US we also see it spelled as argyle.

I'm shocked at the realization that the Colorado Grand Canyon is not in Colorado.

It's not called the "Colorado Grand Canyon"; it's just the "Grand Canyon" that happens to have been formed by the Colorado River running through it.

Not sure what the Colorado Grand Canyon is... but I've been to the Grand Canyon, which is spread out between Arizona, Nevada, and Utah, but mostly in Arizona, and definitely not in Colorado.

I've been to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado which sometimes is called the "Mini Grand Canyon". I've also been to Waimea Canyon on the Hawaiian isle of Kaua'i, which is also called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific - but the Grand Canyon in Arizona is the granddaddy of them all.

I couldn't think of any Asian mountains beginning with a, but I had plenty of time left so I just started typing aa, ab, ac, etc hoping something would remind me. When I got to ar the light came on in my brain and it was shining on Noah's ark perched on top of Mt. Ararat (I always think of Harold Reid of the Statler Brothers making it sound more like Mt. "Arararat" when singing "Noah Found Grace".)

I wasted so much time typing "acropolis" before reading the caption, but did I learn my lesson for the very next one? Nope. "Ayers." "Ayers Rock." Hmmm. "Aeres Rock?" D'oh.

We do not have counties in Scotland. The administrative region is called Argyll and Bute.

The Aurora Borealis, which you refer to as Aurora, is known as the Northern Lights, which should be accepted as an answer

The pattern is spelled 'Argyle', and was originally based on the tartan of Clan Campbell of Argyll. The picture given shows a modern variant, not related in any way to the original tartan other than through geomertry.
