I hate to say this again but the way citypopulation combines neighbouring cities as one is really a stretch. No Chinese would consider Guangzhou and Shenzhen (which are 100 km apart), or Xiamen and Quanzhou (70 km apart) as one. Without these weird agglomerations, Shanghai would be the largest city in China and Chengdu is way bigger than Xiamen.
