Pan Am = bankrupt in 1991 (Delta purchased some of the remaining assets). New airline under the Pan Am name came out in 1996, lasting until 1998. A third airline using the name operated from 1998-2004.
Eastern = bankrupt in 1991, new airline under the name is planned for 2014 (we'll see)
Continental = merged with United in 2012 - they kept the United name and the Continental tail scheme
I guessed it, but I was kind of surprised to actually see it come up. Never flown Allegiant, but they do pop up a lot as the cheapest fare because everything is an add-on (a la Spirit, Frontier, etc.)
They are a small airline that has a limited number of destinations (usually smaller market cities that are geographically close to larger cities). They are a no frills airline that charges a low ticket cost, but then nickel and dimes you to death for everything else.
Sun Country is based out of MSP only, not DTW. You may be thinking of Northwest (which merged with Delta); it was based in Minneapolis/MSP but had a hub in DTW.
I thought for sure Sun Country would be on here just because it is pretty large around me, in St. Paul, but apparently they only serve 2-3 million a year. You learn something new everyday.

Allegheny = changed its name to USAir in 1979
I remember on a Letterman Top Ten list (Top Ten Reasons Eastern Airlines Declared Bankruptcy):
"Lavish 'keep the whole can of soda' policy" :))
