Hong Kong has never been its own country, at least not for a few hundred years. It was ceded by the Chinese Empire to the British Empire after the Opium Wars (when the British Empire forced the Chinese at gunpoint to open up their ports and buy harmful addictive drugs), after which point it became a British colony/territory up until 1997 when it was given back to China. At that point it became a "Special Administrative Region" of China. It has its own laws, immigration and monetary and trade policies, but is still officially part of China.
I thought I typed in Switzerland... oh well.. only missed that and 2 others. Should have got Costa Rica but when I was typing in Latin American countries it didn't occur to me. I'm shocked that Thailand and especially Mexico did not make the list. Surely a lot of Americans decide to settle south of the border for the climate or because it's close and many Americans with Mexican heritage also go back.
I completely forgot I had taken this quiz. Took it again.. almost 1 year later. This time I got 100%! :D haha. and I was still shocked Mexico and Thailand didn't make the list. I guess in Mexico's case the flow of immigrants only goes one way.
