I was definitely intimidated by the W at first, thinking it's a weird letter and therefore I wouldn't do well. Then I actually got to the quiz and it was pretty easy.
people might not play it as often as the other one because it is easy. If you get them all right the first (or perhaps 2nd) go, there is no need to it again, while others ones might need over 10 attempts to get them all right ( and if you revisit a few years later you might have forgotten a few that didn't stick)
I've played this site long enough that I absolutely know Windhoek is the capital of somewhere, but could not tell you which country it is if my life depended on it.
Yes, but to clarify Tintenpalast is a German word, the Afrikaans translation would be inkpaleis. I looked it up because I thought, huh tint, ink? Wouldn't it be simply tint in English (or shade, colour, teint, tan of hue.)
Untill now I wasn't aware the German word for ink was Tinte, they are quite a few of those sneaky quite but not close words in languages from the same families (well atleast the germanic languages). Confusing but interesting.
I remember when I was at my dad's and he had german guests with a dog. And I learned in german dogs "bellen" (bark) which in dutch means making a phonecall.. I found it quite amusing :)
I spend so much time on this site, that I have forgotten the dutch words for most of them haha. Though quite a few I didnt know in ány language before coming to this site. Like Funafuti ;)
Sorry, but I refuse to believe that half the quiz takers knew Windhoek, Namibia. If you want to google to get the answers because it makes you feel good, have at it, I guess.
I was well aware if the status of Windhoek long before I had ever come across jetpunk. Not sure whether I knew it before I learnt Dutch, but that does make it stick in the mind.
Fun fact: there is a motorcycle dealership in the UK going by the name "Windy Corner".
You should put somewhere that full name of the capital because I was stumped for North America because most people only say D.C because their is a state called Washington.
I’m an American and I got them all except Washington D.C. I couldn’t think which North American country had a capital beginning with W, so I hit the give up button.

2. I think that was a poor attempt at a Covid-19 joke.
