Barely beat the average with a score of 36, just typing what came into my head. No idea why I wasted time spelling Uzbekistan and Nicaragua. I like this kind of quiz to wake me up for the day.
At least you were trying Uzbekistan. I lost some precious few seconds trying to type Kyrgyzstan. This quiz needs some planning rather than just typing in random countries.
Ah Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan... literally some of the hardest country names to type. Really that includes most of the -stans except for like, Pakistan.
Need to plan this one out better, just random jumping around and found myself entering "Dominican Republic". Why? Got 38 first try, but gotta be smarter about shorter/faster names. :-)
The trick is that you've got to consider type-ins. Not only acronyms but also shortenings (e.g. Gana for Ghana). It would be better to use the answers here for the spreadsheet.
Only got 27. Started typing and my mind just went blank. Surprisingly, I filled in Tajikstan and Kazakhstan almost immediately, can't figure out why I did that.
I think that's also because the copy-paste rules for Krygyzstan are kind of weird. In my opinion, we should just take Krygyzstan off of all the quizzes it's in. I asked my parents how to spell Krygyzstan and neither of them got past the 3rd letter :D
It looks like you can get all 5 points by getting a score of over 45 as of right now. It's not hard if you know what abbreviations to use, and what countries have the shortest names.
Got to 51 countries on best go - use countries with shortened names (UK, USA, UAE, CAR, FYROM, PNG, PRC, ROC). Congo gives two answers.
Then I move to four and five letter countries. Looking at the stats, a lot of people try the likes of Brazil and Australia - the length of those countries names will not help to get a high score.
Ironic that the country with the longest name, Democratic Republic of the Congo, is one of the first choices you should go for on a one-minute quiz! (DRC)
The name change to North Macedonia became official on 12 February 2019, following a referendum (Sept 2018) and parliamentary ratification (Jan 2019) in Macedonia, as well as a Jan 2019 vote in the Greek parliament (with whom it had had a lengthy row about its name) that also accepted the new name.
ok... I must not be awake... I thought ow yea lets redo this quiz, it was fun. I saw the letters piling up in the box, and thought huh? something went wrong, must done the first one double... Then tried again, "no"didnt give me norway and it was the 2nd country tried, I thought wth? typed it in full an it accepted, huh?!?! Ok... then i realised this was the sprint quiz where you type the names in full... not just the first 2 letters..
Now is the time for all good countries to come to the aid of their men. Now is the time for all good countries to come to the aid of their men. Now is the time for all good countriess.......oh crap.
Bwahahahahahahahaha! Why are the stats for DR of the Congo different to the stats for R of the Congo? If people were to just type in the word "Congo" - you would get both! Are people seriously typing that whole thing??? This kills me! XD
Is it just me or does anybody else find these speed typing quizzes ridiculous .what do they prove, somebody can type really fast so what ?.I have the 196 badge so I know the countries . by the way I got 24 on this but I don't ever plan to become a secretary so I don't see whats the use of speed typing .just done this out of boredom .
It's not just you! But it's interesting that when you were bored, with thousands of quizzes on Jetpunk you could choose from, you latched onto this one.
If someone impossibly managed to get all of them then thy would be able to type each country name in 0.3 seconds, which is especially hard with the longer ones like the Stan countries. And if you are typing so incredibly fast, it can be very easy to make mistakes.
I'm curious to know what strategies are used on this quiz. Assuming most who are doing the 1 minute sprint have already aced, or are at least well familiar, with all 196 countries -- do Jetpunkers generally type the countries in alphabetical order from memory, try to type the shortest countries first, use the map, something else?
I always start with USA, UK, DR, DRC, and then I just go for shorter countries like India. When I'm trying to find shorter countries, I'm continuously typing things like Germany and Algeria.
I know the 'best' way to do this quiz is by typing the shortest names, and that's how I always try to start (USA, UK, UAE, Congo for two, CAR, Cuba, etc) but then as time goes by I start panicking and just typing whatever countries I can think of...so I get Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan and New Zealand and a bunch of other long ones...anyone else end up this way?
I'm trying to get the one Minute Badge but never seem to be able to complete this one? This quiz is very challenging I have 2/4 badges and i need this one and the Capitals of the World In one minute Quiz done.
p.s. that was a lie
yawn
jk no one finished this quiz
:)
I have practiced my countries of the world time for some months already (PB is 11:50) so this wasn't so tough xD
Then I move to four and five letter countries. Looking at the stats, a lot of people try the likes of Brazil and Australia - the length of those countries names will not help to get a high score.
I'm reasonably good at typing and know all the countries in the world but there's no way I could do this..
Is there some sort of highscore ranking for this?
