I've never heard goggle box before! Or "bush telly"? Yeah, I tried true blue and dinky di before I realised what it meant too. And aussie rules and afl for footy too. Also, spelling for jillaroo and jackaroo should allow jilleroo and jackeroo
I've never heard of bush telly. I guessed bushfire!! No one rarely calls Australia Oz, I've never called it that. I've called it Aussie/Ozzie, and austrya or ostraya. NRL (National Rugby League) is also called footy. I lie could also be known as a whitie. I lie that causes cause pain. It is used to get out of sticky situations.
Half of these are really nicknames here 'Down Under' not slang. And i usually call a television just 'tv' and my family poke fun at each other by joking that we have told 'porkies'. So maybe mention NICKNAMES, NICKNAMES, NICKNAMES, NICKNAMES, NICKNAMES, NICKNAMES, NICKNAMES, NICKNAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seconded. I go on camps pretty frequently around Sydney and I'm part of a few camping related groups, yet I've never heard 'bush telly' ever spoken - only mentioned every now and then on obscure internet articles.
Bruce for man? And more lenient spellings for brekkie? (break(k)ie/y). Also missed a few bc I also use them as a non-Australian, I don't think the quiz would be worse without mate/footy/telly/bloke/porky
How I know this, I live in the country.
true blue.... is it me and you?? is it mum and dad, is it a cockatoo? or is it standin' by your mate when he's in a fight? or just vegemite?
