Can you name all the Tsars (Czars) of Russia, Emperors of Russia, Leaders of the Soviet Union and Presidents of Russia?
* - Listed are the Soviet leaders that exercised effective control of the USSR for the years listed. Their titles varied but included General Secretary, Communist Party Leader and Premier.
According to Wikipedia, Boris Godunov was sole Tsar from 1598 to 1605, and the Time of Troubles came afterwards. Of course, you may disagree, but I feel that you should throw people a bone given that the one pre-Romanov name people are likely to know is Boris Godunov, and he's certainly within the period. I was constantly surprised by the fact that just typing "Boris" didn't get a correct answer!
I think Nikolai is more common than Nikolay. And Aleksandr. Some alternate spellings of some other names would be welcome, too, like Kruschev, perhaps. Plus accepting "2" instead of "ii" would be helpful. Otherwise, pretty good good quiz.
You're missing one Soviet leader: Yanayev, but he often gets left off of official lists. Also, Medvedev was definitely never leader of Russia. He held the office of president, which up until his term in office was the office of the leader of Russia, and after he vacated the office it became so again, but Putin has been the de-facto leader of Russia since 1999 and he is now effectively dictator.
Great quiz! Though it would be nice if a Tsars name would unlock all of them. For example "Ivan" would unlock Ivan 4-6, like in the British monarchs quiz.
That's right, it should be fixed. It is spelled with an "h" after the "k" once it gets into the box, but when I was typing it, it only worked without an "h".
like: Nikolay instead of Nicholas, Aleksey instead of Alexis, Ekaterina (Catherine), Elizaveta (Elizabeth), Pavel (Paul), Kostantin (Constantine) etc.
