Inactive franchises, whether they won a cup or not, do not count.

One team pays homage to a former Stanley Cup winning team by bearing the same name. Despite this similarity, the current franchise using the name has never won a cup. Another team relocated this year and is listed under their new location and temporary name, but can still be guessed by their old name for this upcoming season.
