The 108 Stars of Destiny of Suikoden I by Picture

In December of 1995, game developer Konami released a PlayStation 1 JRPG title by the name of Gensōsuikoden to Japanese audiences. Almost a year to the date, in 1996, that game saw release worldwide on the same console as Suikoden. The game (and series) borrowed heavily from the classic Chinese novel Shui Hu Zhuan (translated as Water Margin), which tells the story of 108 outlaws who band together to rebel against their government. Boasting that many characters to recruit, and more to interact with, Suikoden entered the markets as a substantial entry amongst RPG fans. Its core gameplay, while considered fairly average JRPG fare, had variety in its battle types, the ability to maintain a party of six combatants, a castle-building mechanic, and solid lore that a game with such a large cast would demand. Konami built on this with subsequent sequels, prequels, off-shoots, (Japan-only) text adventures, audio dramatizations (again, Japan-only), and (definitely Japan only) pachinko machines. The series has since gone on to cult status amongst RPG fans, though Konami ceased producing games outside of Japan after 2009 and within Japan after 2012. In September of 2024, however, Konami announced (likely due to the warm fan response to series creator Yoshitaka Murayama's spiritual sequel game Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes) that a HD re-release of the first two games would be forthcoming in March of '25. With that, came new, remastered artwork of the in-game portraits of all the featured characters. In this quiz, you're tasked with naming the 108 (actually 109) characters that make up the player-led rebels using those shiny, new portraits. Can you remember them all?
Yellow box is in effect, meaning only the picture with a yellow text box beneath it is applicable to the written answer.
Characters are in general order of when they can initially be recruited.
Yes, there are technically 109, as the player is tasked with recruiting 108 beyond the main character.
