Did you know: the two current WWE Tag Team championships are not connected to the lineage of the original WWWF/WWF/WWE World tag team championship? That's right, WWE retired the original lineage on August 16th, 2010 when that title, and the WWE Tag Team Championship that was created in 2002 for the SmackDown brand, were unified at the end of the original WWE brand split. In 2016, the brands split for a second time, and a new World Tag Team Championship, with the same name but an unaffiliated lineage, was created for SmackDown. That means there's been three distinct World-level tag team championships in the WWE. The title holders for all three are listed in this quiz as individuals. Can you name all 241 individuals to have held the belts since 1971?
Wrestlers can be guessed individually or by a tag team name if they used one during their reign. For instance, guessing The Fabulous Freebirds or even just Freebirds could get you any combinations of Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts, Jimmy Garvin, Brad Armstrong, or Iceman Parsons if any combination of at least two or more under the Freebird rule had won the titles together under that team name. Alternate spellings may exist for some names that might be more difficult to spell. Wrestlers who appeared under alternate names and characters can be guessed with just one of those names and will appear under only one of those names. Wrestlers are listed under the name they were using when they won the belt, (or in the case of multiple wins, the most common name) and are then listed alphabetically as such by first name, or first word, if they used a noun at the beginning of their most common name. Wrestlers whose names start with "The" are listed irrespective of the "The".
Legend: | WTT1 = The World Tag Team championship from 1971 - 2010 | WWE = The WWE Tag Team Championship created in 2002 originally for the SmackDown brand. | WTT2 The new World Tag Team Championship created in 2016... Also for the SmackDown brand
Continued Legend: LYW = Last Year Won: the last year that wrestler held the title. To make this one a litle easier given how many wrestlers there are. | Total = Cumulative number of World tag team championship reigns across all three titles. | Days = Cumulative number of days having held a world tag team championship. Note: Some wrestlers held more than one belt at a time and are given double time credited in such cases. Total reigns may also reflect double credit for having won two titles at the same time. Title reigns lasting less than a day are given a one day credit for the sake of this quiz. Some reigns were won and defended under the Freebird Rule, which allows for a stable of three or more wrestlers to defend the titles in varying pairs.
Quiz to be updated once a year following WrestleMania.
