From 1967 to 2002, there was one world champion of what is today called the WWE. Starting in 2002, WWE split their two primary TV shows, RAW and SmackDown!, into separate brands, and each one had its own world champion: the WWE World Champion and the World Heavyweight Champion. In 2013, this split ended and the titles were unified. In 2016, they split again, and a new belt and lineage was created: the WWE Universal Champion. This belt and line was unofficially unified in 2023 in a Winner-Take-All match, though its line still technically exists, albeit without a separate physical belt. A third world championship was then created to fill the void felt by the Universal belt's unofficial unification, and a new belt and lineage with a familiar name: the World Heavyweight Championship, was born. Holders of all of those belts are considered in WWE's title history, to have been world champions under the WWE banner. Can you name all 67 recognized world champion wrestlers?
Alternate spellings may exist for some names that might be more difficult to spell. Wrestlers who appeared under alternate names and characters can be guessed with just one of those names and will appear under only one of those names. Wrestlers are listed under the name they were using when they won the belt, (or in the case of multiple wins, the most common name) and are then listed alphabetically as such by first name or common noun. Wrestlers whose names start with "The" are listed irrespective of the "The". Nicknames typically placed at the beginning of a name are likewise ignored for sorting.
Legend: | WWE = The WWE World Championship from 1963 - Present | WHC1 = The Initial World Heavyweight Championship that lasted from 2002 - 2013 | UNV = WWE Universal Championship | WHC2 = The Current title named the World Heavyweight Championship that was created in 2023
Continued Legend: | Total = Cumulative number of World championship reigns across all four titles. | Days = Cumulative number of days having held a world championship. Note: Some wrestlers held more than one belt at a time and are given double time credited in such cases. Two wrestlers currently hold the three active titles and their Days is listed as Pres for present to account for those continuing reigns. One wrestler won both the WWE and UNV titles simultaneously and is recognized as holding both, although only one physical belt existed. Hence the asterisk. Title reigns lasting less than a day are given a one day credit for the sake of this quiz.
