US Islands by Population

Using the population (2010 Census) and the state or territory as a guide, name the islands of the US (including overseas territories) with a population greater than 10,000. Does not include inland river islands. Some populations are hard to ascertain. Artificial islands such as Cape Cod are not included. Note - this quiz is an inexact science! Absecon Island in New Jersey has a population of 57, 457. That island contains Atlantic City. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absecon_Island

Right you are. I wonder if this list is incomplete or if they are not considering barrier islands like this. Absecon Inlet is not an artificial canal, is it?

The list may be incomplete. Barrier islands in Florida also seem to be missing. NYC's Roosevelt Island in the East River has a population of 11,551. I attempted a quiz like this once but abandoned it due to a lack of a good source.

I'm realizing that! So I made a lot of edits. I did a visual inspection of the shoreline of the entire US and made quite a few additions. It's a pretty inexact science, especially determining what's a barrier island versus an artificial island, and what is natural intercoastal waterway and what is artificial canal.
