Wow, I am REALLY surprised China wasn't on the list. And I'm not surprised in the least that Iceland is in second. I can't think of many traditional dishes (as meals, not just solo ingredients) that don't involve some kind of seafood. Heck, you can easily buy minke whale on skewers and then there's the whole meaning of hvalraki ...
There are 1.3 billion people in the country, so China may eat a lot of fish in total but not per capita. And actually livestock and poultry make up the majority of meat ingredients in Chinese dishes. And for the inland regions seafood are really expensive, like twice as expensive as beef...
most of the consumption of whale meat in Iceland these days is by tourists who are looking for an "authentic cultural experience." They do fish a lot though--it's their top export (barely edging out aluminum).
Agh! Guessed all the Pacific Islands and so got those, but after 4 Caribbean countries didn't show up, I didn't finish the job, so only missed A&B. I like this updated version better.
He did say "top country" and not "citizens of the top country," didn't he?
... he also said "I eat more ALONE than the top country"... I don't even think this was a typo he was probably trying to make a joke about how much he likes fish.
A lot of them eat lots of non-traditional processed foods, which contain lots of fat and sugar. Take the following quiz, and be sure to check the discussion of the topic in the comments: https://www.jetpunk.com/quizzes/counties-with-the-highest-obesity-rate

Portugal as a nation practically worships the sardine. There is a very long standing relationship between the Portuguese nation and the humble sardine, and there are feasts and festivals all over the place in summer.
Portugal also réálly likes bacalhau, or salted cod. And if you ever go to the Azores, they serve literally everything you can find in the ocean at restaurants. Took the opportunity to taste shark and swordfish for the first time when I was there.
I'm am surprised to see I was surprised about Portugal.. ( though it was one of the ones I missed this time aswell) I saw Portugal and was like ow yea of course...
