Fun facts:

- the international word "robot" comes from the word "rabota" (to labour)

- Soviet Union = Советский Союз (sovyetkij sayuz), for other purposes the languages tend to use some variation of the word "union", such as the Polish "Unia Europejska" for "European Union"

- "yug" ("south") gave name to "Yugoslavia" (South Slavic land)

- the word for "white" may be familiar e.g. from "Belgrade" ("Београд" - "Beograd") "White City" or from "Belarus" which translates to "White Rus"

- the Great Famine of Ukraine (1932-33) is known as "Holodomor" ("Голодомо́р") which simply translates to "famine"
