Canada is bigger than China. Now the real dispute is either China is in 3rd or the US is 3rd, due to multiple sources(mainly the CIA World Factbook) taking in the US water area(not inland water), but not for any other country. And for China, well the only thing that migjt change China's size are the disputed territories(mainly the Spratly islands and Taiwan). There is no dispute if Canada or China are bigger
Excellent quiz once again, although could I suggest a time bump? As (at the moment) No one has actually completed this quiz and I only got 1/3 of them going at a pretty reasonable pace.
Great quiz, for those like myself that can point out all the worlds countries but have not memorised them alphabetically it is quite a test. I was bogged down with Myanmar for a long time, then Afghanistan ...... watching that clock tick down is not the best of occupations........... good quiz.
After about fifteen tries I finally got them all!! With 0:42 left ... At first I didn't think it would be possible but when you start to memorize series of countries, it gets a lot easier.
That is how the country of Cote d'ivoire wishes for the country to be spelled and pronounced, though this is also true for Timor Leste, even though no one takes that one into account
I think it should be updated for a few names (North Macedonia, Eswatini, Ivory Coast...) and maybe add 5 minutes because tiny countries are a pain in the ass.
Yeah, if you don't count Greenland for Denmark, you don't count Svalbard etc. for Norway. Thus, Norway's area is 323 802 m2, which is less than Finland's. Don't always believe what Google tells you.
If only the hint for the next one could be shown next to the type-in box, I might have had a chance of finishing. Otherwise, I'm constantly scrolling up and down.
Fun quiz! However, a more accurate map projection might help. Also good to know if overseas territories are counted (especially Denmark and Greenland), but it soon becomes apparent that not.
Great idea for a quiz, but ruined slightly by the constant scrolling up and down required. If the hint just appeared at the top near the map that would make this quiz a lot better, and maybe make it more feasible to complete in the time limit.
The scrolling required to progress through this is maddening. Is there any way to show the initial of the next country in view of the filled-in map? I enjoyed this (got 85), but the incessant scrolling that is required has discouraged me from re-taking it.
Super job, Overtired, adding the initial on the map. I'm glad I checked back on this one. Made a really good quiz into a fantastic one. Thanks. I went from 85 to 132 without having to scroll. Just missed typing in Bhutan as time expired.
I think I could have finished without the 5 minutes that I spent scrolling up to look at the map and back down to see the next letter. It would be nice if the map's CSS position property could be set to fixed so that it would stay on the screen while I scroll.
As others have said, putting the letter on the map is a great solution! Now, hopefully, some Jetpunk quiz-making elites will use this idea for a multitude of new quizzes!
It would be great if the letter on the map would match the highlighted country - so if you get stuck, you can tab to the next answer and dont have to scroll down.
i think it may be helpful to have a caveat reminding everyone that larger countries may not look larger due to the map projection - saves quizzers guessing ones in europe that simply aren’t as big as they look, and you get less complaining comments.
Aright, I am confused. I got as far as Armenia, which 8% of quiz takers also guess, BUT the 16% have guessed Vatican city. How is that possible? Is it possible to go out of order or skip ahead?
I got so stuck waiting for Morocco - does the indicated area include Western Sahara? It looks much bigger on the map and according to Wikipedia, with Western Sahara included it is 710k which would be above Myanmar & Madagascar. Or should uncounted territories be greyed out or something?
There is no way the 5 point average for this quiz is that high legitimately. This is my third take of this quiz and my best is 178, still not enough to beat 95%. Or maybe I'm just too sour right now lol
every time I do this I forget how many countries start with the same letter and I'll get about halfway through and start saying things like "HOW ON EARTH ARE THERE MORE G COUNTRIES"
I've memorized the countries in alphabetical order, and just cycled through them until I said one that made sense.
I've read over the list of countries by area before so I know the first 30 off the top of my head. I also know that certain countries are right before and after each other, like Spain and Turkmenistan, Sweden and Uzbekistan, or Solomon Islands and Armenia.
It's a real size map it helps a lot.
