This city is one of the very few included on my bucket list of places where to NEVER go, because of the risks of kicking it (the bucket) due to the fantastic sum of hazardous things everywhere near it.
You definitely found a great concept with your quizzes by distance. This one is nowhere near as difficult as some other ones, but it's still a lot of fun to play, I never through I would have typed that city surrounded by volcanoes and submarines in Kamtchatka (to not name it) on a JetPunk Quiz.
You should definitely accept Papeete for Faa'a. And I highly suggest to put Papeete as the main answer, it's the capital of Tahiti, in the same "metro area" as Faa'a, and much more well-known.
Lol I did not understand why in this version, Port aux Français, Hamilton and Edinburgh of the Seven Seas did not work, until I noticed they were already validated.
Does Seattle really have the largest urban population in the northwest? I do know that Vancouver's urban population is not that high, but how about Edmonton or Calgary? Should Edmonton or Calgary be on the quiz?
seems like there are some big gaps in the map unless there is some projection distortion. no cities in the middle of canada, kazakhstan or around niger/mali/algeria/libya? pretty sure all of those are more than 1000km from anywhere else unless this is not a complete grid (but then why include tiny places?)
The limit is 1000 km but you can have a much longer 'chain'. I am guessing these so I might be wrong but for example I suppose Seattle is larger than Calgary which is larger than some smaller city which will be larger than Iqaluit etc, so none of those are the largest city within 1000 km
I got "Weno" by typing in "no" on my way to Novosibirsk. And I don't know which Georgetown that is that was given to us as a freebie but I tried guessing Georgetown.
Haha, I just red your comment, and I too got Weno by typing 'no'- but I was trying to type in Nuku'alofa. (Instead of Apia) Mayby I misspelt it so I tried Noku.. and I was surprised to see that a city in Micronesia turned green :)
according to the data I used Whitehorse (23k people) is 271 km away from Juneau (32k people); Juneau is 873 km away from Prince George (65k people); Prince George is 398 km away from Kamloops (68k people); Kamloops is 105 km away from Kelowna (125k people); Kelowna is 220 km away from Abbotsford (151k people); Abbotsford is 42 km away from Surrey (395k people); Surrey is 28 km away from Vancouver which is 198 km away from Seattle
No. Exmouth: 3,000, Port Hedland: 15,000. Although it may be different on the source (which I'm not going to argue with) but I think Karratha has about 20,000 people and is therefore more populated than Port Hedland.
Great quiz, but what's up with the type-ins? I can't see why "no" would be accepted for Weno or "ice Springs" for "Alice Springs". Maybe they're slangy local names I'm unaware of.
