Start with Canada. Then guess its northernmost neighbour (by point on land). Then guess the northernmost neighbor of that country, etc... When you reach a dead end, go back and choose the next northernmost-neighbor. Finally, when you're done with continents continue onto the islands.
Overseas territories don't count, but overseas regions do
Yes: France/Brazil, Morocco/Spain
No: France/Netherlands, UK/Spain
Dubious land borders not considered: Sri Lanka/India, Qatar/UAE
Starting with Canada (the northernmost point’s country), type the northernmost bordering country. When you reach a dead end (the first one being Denmark), reverse through the list to the most-recent one where not all its borders have been done (Germany), and resume from there (Poland).
Maybe consider not to include Hispaniola. It seems odd to include it when all the other countries are connected. Nice quiz, though, and I can see why you included it.
Uk Spain is with Gibraltar, am i correct? Anyway, great quiz! Timed out right after typing Brazil, and after finishing Africa all the remaining Europeans got me confused for a second.
Nice quiz, but should have been more consistent. It seems meaningless to include the borders of territories, without to include the territories' northernmost position. So it should been decided if territories are included or not. If they are included, the quiz should start with Greenland, and the UK-Cyprus broder should also been included. If they are not included, the UK-Spain border should either not have been included. What is written, that the northernmost point on land is is Canada, is wrong anyway.
The questionable India-Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia-Bahrain borders are also so similar, that either should both been included, or none..
As far as I can tell, it's not inconsistent. It includes non-contiguous regions of a country, like Alaska and French Guiana; and does not include overseas territories or possessions, like Gibraltar. The UK/Spain border isn't included--maybe you were confused by the UK being the next starting point after the connected countries are exhausted.
The northernmost point of land is in Canada, when you do not include territories, like Denmark. So the quiz is consistent here as well.
The "questionable" borders are not questionable. Sri Lanka hasn't been connected to India since the 1400s and Qatar and UAE simply don't have a border since 1974.
Luckily, the quiz makes these extra clear by providing the caveats and examples.
Very, very confusing instructions. "Start with Canada. Then guess its northernmost neighbour" This would be the USA (Alaska). Then guess the northernmost neighbor of that country which would mean the northern most country of the USA which is not Mexico and yet Mexico is next in the answers. Please explain.
I still don't understand how one gets to the UK or Haiti.
(Both at the end, so I was able to get them by seeing what was left on the map and noting that I only had a few countries left. But I'm unclear how one is "supposed" to get to them.)
Either way, I loved the idea! A truly fascinating (and at times surprising) quiz! Very creative.
Look at the instructions. Once you have guessed all continental countries, you move to the island countries, starting with the Northernmost one, which is the UK. When you reach the dead end of Ireland, simply move to the northernmost remaining country, which is Haiti.
Originally you got to UK in this quiz from Spain (via Gibraltar). Now that it has been promoted it looks like the quizmaster didn't like that aspect, so it is now treated the same way as Hispaniola.
Hispaniola and UK/Ireland have been included because they have land borders (neighbours) with another country.
That is the quiz maker's prerogative.
The unincluded island countries have no land borders with another country.
Oof...that was awesome. REALLY made you think. Got them all with 2:40 to spare, but i was really worried i wouldn't get there at first. I got hung up on Liechtenstein for a bit.
Shouldn't it go from Spain to UK because of Gibraltar, and then to Ireland, and then over to Cyprus because of the overseas possessions? I understand if you make the distinctions between possessions and non-contiguous territories, but maybe some food for thought as it would spice up the quiz even more
Dang, I would've done a LOT better if I hadn't wasted a few minutes wondering why it wasn't accepting Costa Rica as Nicaragua's next northernmost neighbor (am I supposed to go back to Honduras? Does it share some border with El Salvador I can't see? Is there some weird island somewhere?) before I realized that I had accidentally tabbed myself into a different answer box.
I swear to God, this will get your blood pumping. 5 minutes in, I had 25. Once you get the hang of it, you're typing out countries like there's no tomorrow!
literally one of the best quizes i have ever played, great quiz idea and had to think a while for monaco at the end but i got it with around 1.30 minutes left. Thank you for this epic quiz
WTF, Oman? Your ownership of the Musandam Governorate cost me a full 30 seconds in this very important quiz. I demand that you hand over control of the Strait of Hormuz to somebody with a logical land border and end all this foolishness immediately.
I got 155/156 on my first try. I missed Monaco and ran out of time. It's very helpful to know that when you're stuck you can skip that country by clicking on the next yellow box and then just try guessing countries that you think are in the right area. Then you can just return to the skipped country in the end and see what country is left.
after liberia, there is a mistake. return to cameroon and later equatorial guinea, its wrong. republic of congo has a border with cameroon and its northern that equatorial guinea
Does that make sense now?
Brilliant quiz
