Interesting quiz. I've never seen PNG or FYROM. Learn something new everyday. It may be something trivial and useless, but it is new!

I only found out thanks to the 'recommended type-ins' feature! Which, I think, is pretty recent, but I would have probably never noticed it if Jerry928 hadn't pointed it out to me

Interesting how several official names of countries aren't allowed as type-ins - Lao PDR, Republic of China/ROC, Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Maybe, for the last one, ironic names aren't allowed.

This is a fascinating quiz, but, speaking of irony, it's ironic that in a quiz where you're asked for countries with type-ins, you've allowed a type-in when entering Vatican City!

Ah, good point!

Initially I hadn't allowed for any type-ins. After realizing I had left out the 'DRC' type-in I added Democratic Republic of the Congo and thought it'd be unfair to force people to type exactly the name, because another way of looking at it is that, since we're talking about alternative 'names', each 'name' can have its 'type-ins' so typing 'Congo' to get 'Democr... ...ongo' makes sense and typing 'Vatican' for 'Vatican City' makes sense.

Actually, I guess I should also add 'the holy see' as a type-in for 'holy see'!

This is my theory on Holland. If Holland is allowed for Netherlands, than "Alabama" should be allowed for the USA, "Queensland" for Australia, "Tibet" for China, "Wales" for the UK, "Normandy" for France and "Siberia" for Russia

No, because none of those is commonly used to refer to the entire country. Holland is, even by the Dutch government.
