Fun, as usual! As a temporary current Turkish resident though, I'd better point out Turkey has only ever been ruled by presidents since its creation in 1923. Heaps of other countries in this part of the world have been ruled by emirs though, including two (Kuwait, Qatar) through to the present day.
Never occured to me to think of the French landmark because it's never Anglicised. I speak French so it's a separate part of brain I guess...
