Conference Championship Recap
The first game of the weekend was between the #3 seed Kansas City Chiefs and the home team, #1 seed Baltimore Ravens. The whole game was slow, but the Chiefs jumped to an early 17-7 lead. In the second half, the Chiefs were unable to score anything, and the Ravens played a lot better. However, they made several critical mistakes and were only able to score a field goal in the second half. The final score of the game was 17-10, in favor of the Chiefs. The Chiefs are 2023 AFC champions and are going to the Super Bowl!
The second game was between the #3 seed Detroit Lions and the home team, #1 seed San Francisco 49ers. This game was more exciting from an offensive perspective, as the Lions jumped to an early lead. The Lions led 24-7 at halftime. However, in the second half, the momentum largely favored the 49ers. They scored 27 unanswered points, making the score 34-24. The lions did score another touchdown, but at that point, it was too late. The final score of the game was 34-31, in favor of the 49ers. The 49ers are 2023 NFC champions and are going to the Super Bowl!
SUPER BOWL
The Super Bowl matchup is set!
It will feature the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs
The game will be on Sunday, February 11 @ 6:30 PM ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount +
Here are some notes about the game
This is Patrick Mahomes' fourth Super Bowl appearance in his six years as starter!
His first Super Bowl was also against the 49ers
This was Super Bowl LIV in 2020
Which was actually four years ago today!
The Chiefs won that game 31-20
The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year
And if they win the Super Bowl, it'll be the first time there's been a back-to-back Super Bowl champion since 2003-2004 with the New England Patriots
The 49ers have not been to the Super Bowl since Super Bowl LIV
The 49ers quarterback is Brock Purdy, who was the very last pick of the draft last year, but is an MVP candidate this year
The Super Bowl will be played in Allegiant Stadium, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the first time a Super Bowl has ever been played in Las Vegas
Predictions!
There are lots of storylines surrounding the game and I think it'll be a great football game. Will the Chiefs win back-to-back Super Bowls, or will the 49ers get their revenge from 4 years ago?
This game is very tough to predict, since both these teams have had incredible seasons. I could honestly see either team winning.
But for my prediction, I think the San Francisco 49ers will win, but by a close margin. Like I said, if the Chiefs win, I won't be surprised, but I just think the 49ers are the better team, and will win.
But what do you think? Which team will hoist the Lombardi Trophy in Allegiant Stadium? Who do you want to win the Super Bowl? What predictions do you have about the game?
Then again, as a Bears fan, I didn't really expect anything I wanted to actually happen
I don't really know who's going to win the Superbowl, I'd probably say its going to be a 50/50, but I have a gut feeling the Chiefs are going to win
