Sites of Iceland⛰️
Iceland is a beautiful country with many cool sites, both Naturally and Physically. This blog will give you 8 different attractions in Iceland - as well as pictures and facts like usual. Enjoy!
1. Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon, as you may have known, is a popular tourist attraction of Iceland; in fact, the most visited! It is very touristy, but is it worth it? Well, the thing is that this lake actually isn't geothermal, it's was made when excess water was released from the Svartsengi power plant nearby. It has PLENTY of minerals. This lake has nearby shops and bars, and is overall very nice and looks dreamy and gorgeous. I recommend you visit there - but you have to get tickets first, and is also very overcrowded!
2. Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is a trail that goes around 3 other attractions: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir, and Gullfoss Waterfall (all very nice places). It is over 190 miles long and even passes through the capital, Reykjavik. You can choose to ride alone or take some local bus around. Whether which one you choose, you will be amazed by the Scenery. Make sure to check out some man-made statues and local people like on the picture to the left!
3. South Shore

As being one of the most popular places in Iceland, this place must have something right? Yes, it does! It is home to dozens of beaches, some having black sand. It is ALSO home to dozens of waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss. It is just a beautiful place to look at nature and enjoy a hike. Don't forget to check out that...what do you call it...the plane crash..
4. Vatnajökull National Park

Although it is hard to pronounce, you wouldn't want to miss this place out. It is dominated by its namesake glacier, which is massive and cool-looking. In fact, Vatnajökull is the largest national park in all of Iceland and features many hiking spots and natural wonders. Plus, the roads are paved and very safe-you won't get hit by a glacier!!
5. Snæfellsnes Peninsula

This place is very nice, although less known. The place is good for hikes, but not for other human activity because the terrain is very rugged and covered with rocks. You still wouldn't want to miss the waterfalls and the creeks. And yes, if you were wondering, you can fill up ANY water bottle from ANY stream here. The water is so clean! Fun fact: It is also called ¨Iceland in a nutshell¨ because it features everything in Iceland in itself.
6. The Diamond Circle

Back to the geothermal! This place has everything: canyons, waterfalls, glaciers, mountains, and of course, geysers! This place is very popular (could it be because of its name lol). It is a route that takes you across the area, and yeah...not much more to say. Some tours that can take you around are the Diamond Circle Day Tour or the Diamond Circle Air Tour.
7. Þórsmörk

If you were wondering, this place is a cool mountain range. And you know what that means - this place is big on hiking! This is the best place for biologists to explore nature and unique wildlife. The place gets its name from Thor, it literally means ¨Thor´s woods. There are also countless trails, campsites, and scenery you will discover in this amazing place!
8. Downtown Reykjavik

Finally! A man-made sight! We've all been waiting for it. Downtown Reykjavik is one of the coolest cities you will see. This place has bars, parks, stores, museums, restaurants, and even some (small) skyscrapers. The city is very proud of its tallest building, a Lutheran church, hallgrimskirkja. You should see pictures of it. All over the city, you will see the nice trees and the nature around you. If you feel like it, you could go fishing in the waters. Forgot to mention, the city overall is very clean.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Iceland is a place with both natural and man-made sights. There are plenty of other places that weren't mentioned here, but you can search those up. This is one place you won't want to miss!
