Geography Snap Statistics (December 2022) : The New Game Modes

As many of you know by now, there is a leaderboard in every game mode of Geography Snap. More precisely, the 5 fastest players per day, per week and since the beginning of Geography Snap (not really, more like since 26th October 2020 for the 45 old game modes, and since November 21st for the 144 new ones). Well, the player Changedaworld invented a points system according to the rank of a player in the All-Time leaderboard. Here it is :

1^st place : 7 points

2^nd place : 5 points

3^rd place : 3 points

4^th place : 2 points

5^th place : 1 point

So, here is a leaderboard for all 189 game modes, for December :

As you can kind of work out from that mess, there are 9 new players : albinruler, dirkster42, Hageball, KonevRokossovsky, MiecrafMan, Minutiae, Mred2025, nerfed and Penguinish. The player who's the 1^st in the most categories is... Changedaworld, being first in 152 game modes.

The player who's the 2^nd in the most categories is... SilverDog, being second in 124 game modes.

The player who's the 3^rd in the most categories is... Dagod, being third in 111 game modes.

The player who's the ^4th in the most categories is... boepnx77, being fourth in 49 game modes.

The player who's the 5^th in the most categories is... boepnx77 too, being fifth in 57 game modes.

There are 4 game modes without a 5th place.

The greatest gap between 2 players is 174 seconds, between boepnx77's 31,0 seconds and dirkster42's 205 seconds in Capitals, Flag-Shapes & Biggest Cities Hard.

The greatest gap between the 1^st and the 5^th in a game mode played by 5 players or more is 188,2 seconds, between Changedaworld's 16,8 seconds and dirkster42's 205 seconds, again in Capitals, Flag-Shapes & Biggest Cities Hard

The smallest gap between the 1^st and the 5^th is 0,5 seconds, between Changedaworld's 3,3 seconds and Batman23's 3,8 seconds, in Countries & Flags Easy.

The smallest gap between the 1^st and the 5^th in a new game mode played by 5 players or more is 1,7 seconds, between SilverDog's 2,3 seconds and Dontforget's 4,0 seconds, in Flag-Shapes Easy.

The World Record that has been the most improved during December is the Biggest Cities Hard game mode, where it has been improved from 19,5 seconds to 13,0 seconds ! That's 6,5 seconds that were cut off !

The game mode where the sum of every time in the All-Time top 5 has been the most improved is Countries, Capitals, Flags, Flag-Shapes & Biggest Cities Hard, where a whopping 374,7 seconds have been taken off !

The game mode where the sum of every time in the All-Time top 5 has been the most increased is Capitals, Flag-Shapes & Biggest Cities Medium, where 258,8 seconds were added !

If we add every time in every All-Time top 5, we get to... 13717,2 seconds, or 3 hours, 48 minutes and 37,2 seconds. That's 31 minutes and 15,3 seconds that were sort of cut off during December ! I say "sort of", because while 58 minutes and 5 seconds were actually cut off during December, 26 minutes and 49,7 seconds where added, because of empty leaderboard spots. And if we only take the time of the 1^st in every All-Time, we get to 1936,9 seconds, or 32 minutes and 16,9 seconds. That's 2 minutes and 13 seconds that were cut off during December !

Fun Fact : There are multiple game modes where both time was improved and time was added because of less empty 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th places, thus having an improvement of 0 second.

In conclusion, this month has been... good, I guess ? It's hard to say if as much time will be improved during January, as the new game modes leaderboards are changing basically every day. I hope January will be a good month too... Oh wait, I'm hearing that January is already finished ! Oh well... I guess I'll have to make these blogs earlier in the month... See you in the next one !
