Geography Snap Statistics (January)

As many of you know by now, there is a leaderboard in every game mode of Geography Snap. More precisely, the 5 fastest players per day, per week and since the beginning of Geography Snap (not really, more like since 26^th October 2020). Well, the player Changedaworld invented a points system according to the rank of a player in the All-Time leaderboard. Here it is :

1^st place : 7 points

2^nd place : 5 points

3^rd place : 3 points

4^th place : 2 points

5^th place : 1 point

So, here is a leaderboard for January :

For the first time, there are no new players to this leaderboard. But sadly, 3 players got ousted out : Daxzz, Jikinena and Tmnight. All of them had only one point though, so it's not really a big surprise.

The player who's the 1^st in the most categories is... Changedaworld, being first in 28 game modes.

The player who's the 2^nd in the most categories is... SilverDog, being second in 28 game modes.

The player who's the 3^rd in the most categories is... Dagod, being third in 30 game modes.

The player who's the 4^th in the most categories are... Sammyboi, being fourth in 9 game modes.

The player who's the 5^th in the most categories is... Sammyboi too, being fifth in 15 game modes.

Out of all 225 All-Time top-5s times, 71 were improved, including 19 World Records !

And here is a leaderboard of the players who have the most CATs. Nothing to do with actual cats, a CAT (Category Association Triple) is when a player is in the same place in all 3 difficulty levels of the same category association.

A total of 59666 games were played in January, and the biggest day was January 8^th, with 2998 games played !

The greatest gap between 2 consecutive players in an Easy game mode is 2,1 seconds, between SilverDog's 4,1 seconds and Dagod's 6,2 seconds, in Countries, Capitals & Shapes Easy.

The greatest gap between 2 consecutive players in a Medium game mode is 4,3 seconds, between Changedaworld's 5,4 seconds and Dagod's 9,7 seconds, in Shapes Medium.

The greatest gap between 2 consecutive players in a Hard game mode is 6,1 seconds, between Changedaworld's 12,6 seconds and Dagod's 18,7 seconds, in Countries Hard.

The greatest gap between the 1^st and the 5^th in an Easy game mode is 3,8 seconds, between Changedaworld's 3,8 seconds and Batman23's 7,6 seconds, in Countries, Capitals & Shapes Easy.

The greatest gap between the 1^st and the 5^th in a Medium game mode is 8,9 seconds, between Changedaworld's 7,7 seconds and Batman23's 16,6 seconds, in Countries, Capitals & Shapes Medium.

The World Record that has been the most improved during January is the Countries, Capitals & Shapes Hard game mode, where it has been improved from 18,9 seconds to 14,7 seconds ! That's 4,2 seconds that were cut off !

The non-World Record time that has been the most improved during January is the Countries, Capitals, Flags & Shapes Hard game mode 2^nd place, which has been improved from 18,8 seconds to 15,3 seconds ! That's 3,5 seconds that were cut off !

The game mode where the sum of every time in the All-Time top 5 has been the most improved is Countries, Capitals, Flags & Shapes Hard, where 6,7 seconds have been taken off !

If we add every time in every All-Time top 5, we get to... 2221,5 seconds, or 37 minutes and 1,5 seconds. That's 51,5 seconds that were cut off during January ! And if we only take the time of the 1^st in every All-Time, we get to 335,4 seconds, or 5 minutes and 35,4 seconds. That's 14,3 seconds that were cut off during January !

A total of 31 World Records were broken in January, in 19 different game modes ! And the game mode where the World Record has been broken the most times is Countries, Capitals & Shapes Hard, with a total of 5 World Records !

The first World Record of January was the Capitals & Shapes Easy 3,7s, which was broken by Changedaworld just 20 minutes and 43 seconds after the New Year !

The lowest time gap between two World Records is 41 seconds, and it was on January 19^th !

The biggest time gap between two World Records is 4 days, 21 hours, 4 minutes and 19 seconds, between January 22^th and January 27^th.

Out of all World Records that got broken 2 times or more during January, the one that lasted the shortest is the Countries, Capitals & Shapes Hard 17.1s, which lasted only 15 minutes and 23 seconds ! As for the one that lasted the longest, it's the Capitals and Shapes Easy 3.7s, which lasted for 17 days, 16 hours, 35 minutes and 40 seconds !

The last World Record of January was the Countries, Flags & Shapes Hard 12.8s, which was broken by Changedaworld 4 days, 7 hours, 32 minutes and 33 seconds before February.

In conclusion, this month has been okay. As I predicted, it was chiller than December, but it was still good nevertheless. Now, you might think that 14,3 seconds cut off of the World Records sum is not a lot, but don't be surprised. The era where 40 seconds could be cut off in a single month is now gone, and the improvements will now be lower every month, because luck is becoming an increasingly bigger factor to improve some World Records. But don't be sad. At least the sum of All-Time top-5s has still room for improvement ! Now, what will happen in February ? I think the 330 seconds barrier will be broken for the World Records sum, and maybe the 36 minutes barrier for All-Time top-5s sum too. As players like Dagod and Sammyboi continue to grind some top-5s, the records will continue to be improved !
