Why does Quizmaster hate Belgium?
Blog by McKenzieFam and Fianchetto
Theory #1 - by kalbahamut
Quizmaster's whole family were killed by Puerto Rican mercenaries acting on the impetus of the Belgian Empire.
Fianchetto: This is the leading theory on Quizmaster's intense hatred of all things Belgium. Kalbahamut first offered up this knowledge on August 2, 2022, in the comments of Quizmaster vs. Artificial Intelligence. No one knows how he got this knowledge, but now that he's left JetPunk forever (for-real-this-time), we may never get to know.
MKF: My question after hearing this is: What reasons does Belgium have for eliminating Quizmaster's family? Maybe I ought to make a follow-up blog, Why Does Belgium Hate the Quizmaster?
Theory #2 - unknown, attributed to FreeStater
Quizmaster's father was shot by a Belgian.
Fianchetto: The origins of this theory are murky. FreeStater said in the comments of this blog that he had heard it somewhere else, but upon later questioning, was unable to provide the source, other than that it was "on an old-style, low-takes quiz". If there are any budding JetPunk journalists out there, this is just the job for you.
MKF: Anyway, this theory is plausible but still questionable. Was the shooting done in war? As part of an untargeted mass shooting? As an act of revenge? Or was it a hunting accident?
Theory #3 - by QuizzerBros
Quizmaster's whole family were killed by Tajik assassins hired by the Belgian government.
MKF: This one is quite similar to kalbahamut's theory, indeed, the QuizzerBros wrote this comment in the very same thread, as a response. The one difference is the nationality of the perpetrators. What do the QuizzerBros know to make them sure it was Tajiks and not Puerto Ricans?
Either way, we have come back to Belgium eliminating the Quizmaster's family, but for some reason not QM himself. Perhaps the Belgians enjoy quiz websites.
Theory #4 - by fuanacdc
Quizmaster went through a period where he was fed up with the unsolicited bashing of Americans, so shots were fired at another country at random to prove how absurd and rude those comments were.
MKF: fuanacdc left a comment containing this theory on the Europe Geography Quiz #5, the same quiz where QM once said, "I hate Belgium so much that I like to post hateful comments on quizzes completely unprompted by anything."
Fianchetto: This theory explains the above Quizmaster comment quite well, actually, but it seems to leave a few things unexplained. For instance, if Belgium was chosen at random to prove a point about unsolicited bashing, why is the Belgium-hatred QM displays so consistent across many years?
Theory #5 - by Fianchetto
Quizmaster's uncle was shot by a Belgian robber in New York City, prompting anti-Belgian sentiment in his family.
Fianchetto: Quizmaster had previously left a comment on the Top 10 U.S. States People are Leaving quiz, claiming that his uncle had left New York after he was shot by a robber. Fianchetto (that's me!) suggested that the robber who shot Quizmaster's uncle was Belgian.
This could be feasible, as there are surely Belgians in New York. However, there is no way to know for sure and, unfortunately, these comments have now been deleted in a recent update. (or at least, recent at the time of writing, anyway).
MKF: Wait, what's this? The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine has a few versions of this page saved, and from looking through the comments, it would seem that the QM's uncle was shot in 1993. If any of you RUB-readers know a Belgian robber who shot someone in New York State in 1993, please contact us. We'd love to know more.
Theory #6 - by Jacktheguy
I always assumed Quizmaster was banned from Belgium since the government doesn't want him to spread the word about their embarrassing history to their citizens.
Fianchetto: This was found in the comments on the All Modern-day Countries Ever Controlled by Belgium quiz.
It is widely known that Quizmaster is a muckraker of sorts, exposing wrongdoings through the format of quizzes. Since Belgium clearly has many flaws in their history, they do not want Quizmaster to spread his "propaganda" to Belgian citizens, which could start an uprising.
Theory #7 - by kalbahamut
He's imitating the many users on the site who can't comment without saying something petty, negative, and usually wrong about the United States.
Fianchetto: Kalbahamut strikes again, this time with a theory that differs greatly from his first, in fact it bears more similarity to theory #4 above. We may be getting closer to the truth here.
Theory #8 - by McKenzieFam
I heard that his first love was killed by Belgian mercenaries.
MKF: Hey, this theory's mine!
Uhhhhh.... I'm just gonna say it: I did not hear this theory anywhere. It's completely made up and does not contain any element of truth whatsoever. DO NOT LOOK INTO THIS FURTHER.
(If anyone here wants to ignore me and look into it further, well, I left the above comment on this blog. There's nothing to see, though, as this is entirely made up.)
Theory #9 - by ItzIngenious
I was under the impression that his grandmother died in his arms after eating a bad waffle.
MKF: ItzIngenious mentioned this theory in a comment on this quiz. When approached for questioning, he gave us this statement:
'While it is a known fact that JetPunk was created as a travel website, it is lesser known that its intention was to ward people away from the ‘evil’ Belgium. Three weeks before the Quizmaster created JetPunk, him and his grandmother were vacationing in the country of Belgium. There she ate a horrendous waffle, and subsequently died from it two hours later. She made it home in a horrible state, and collapsed in the Quizmaster’s arms, whispering in his ear as she passed: "This is not a coincidence. The Belgians planned this all along!" '
This information would suggest that JetPunk was purpose-built as an anti-Belgian propaganda tool, disguised as first a travel website, and then a quiz site, probably after the Quizmaster realized that a quiz site would attract far more traffic. This also makes me wonder if his brother John, co-creator of the site, harbours any anti-Belgium sentiment.
Fianchetto: Well, about John, it was his brother's grandma too. According to a recent analysis, bad waffles are currently the #4 leading cause of death in elderly tourists to Belgium, suggesting that Belgium was not targeting QM's grandmother specifically, but all older visitors to their country.
Fianchetto: So most of these theories seem credible, but alas, we may never know why for sure without more proof. But one thing is certain: Quizmaster hates Belgium and Belgium hates Quizmaster.
MKF: Anyway, that's it for this blog. It was actually surprisingly difficult to find much information on these theories I wonder why.
My Quizmasterbanningmeaphobia has been steadily creeping larger as I make this blog, but I'm still going to publish this and hope I don't get banned. If any of you want to read more about instances where QM has hated on Belgium, you can find them here on Fianchetto's blog.
Tell us in the comments what you think of these theories, which you think might be the true cause, and also if you have any more information about why Quizmaster hates Belgium.
