Hello! In this blog I will be giving you the basic information about the Equatorial Guinean city that is replacing Malabo as the Capital!
Location
Ciudad de la Paz, formally known as Oyola, is on the mainland, making it more accessible than Malabo, which is on an island. It is located in the province Djibloho, the newest province of Equatorial Guinea. It is between the cities of Bata (250,770, 2012 population) and Mongomo (7251, 2012 population).
Population
Ciudad de la Paz is projected to have a population of 200,000, being the third largest city in Equatorial Guinea. The largest is Malabo and the second largest being Bata. The city will be larger than the African Capitals Moroni, Comoros (62,000); Praia, Cape Verde (168,000); Port Louis, Mauritius (149,000); and Victoria, Seychelles (28,000); being the fifth smallest African Capital. It will be slightly smaller than Porto Novo, Benin (285,000); Gaborone, Botswana (269,000); Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast (231,000); and Maseru, Lesotho (202,000).
Climate
Ciudad de la Paz has a climate between a Tropical Monsoon Climate and a Tropical Savannah Climate. It averages 2142 mm of rainfall a year, which is high overall. During the December and January months, it is drier, but still pretty wet. It is also slightly cooler during July and August. The other months are very wet.
