Minecraft. A game with endless adventures, infinite possibilities. And, just the other day the annual Minecraft Live was streamed on YouTube. If you missed the stream, here’s what they confirmed to be in the next Minecraft update, 1.20.
First of all, what is 1.20 going to be like?
During Minecraft Live, the update was declared to be focusing on “making Minecraft more Minecraft-y”. While we don’t know the theme yet, this bodes good news! Sorry, gun fanatics.
Minecraft 1.20 also will include a community-chosen mob, which was decided from a mob vote. The results were revealed during Minecraft Live. With that, let’s get into the 5 (6-ish) features we know to be in Minecraft 1.20!
New Default Skins
This is not a 1.20 feature, but something that will be released hopefully very soon! More skins like Steve and Alex will be coming to the game, in hopes to make more people feel included. These skins will have varieties of skin colors, hair colors, and facial features.
This mob was the winner of the mob, and won over 50% of the votes between the three mobs. It is an extinct mob that you must bring back by finding Sniffer eggs in your world and hatching and breeding them. They will lead you to special seeds.
Not much is known about this yet except that it will act like any other wood type, being able to be crafted into the usual planks, stairs, boats (in this case a raft) etc. etc.
A new mob! These will be found in deserts, and are tamed and breaded with cacti. They can be ridden, and can fit two players, the front which steers, and the back which can sightsee, or fight mobs along the way. They have a special dash feature where you can make them jump a long distance, like over a river or ravine.
Ok, you may be thinking ‘but Minecraft already has bookshelves, right?’, and you’d be right. However, do they actual act like bookshelves? These new chiseled bookshelves can store up to three books, the books being normal books, enchanted books, or book and quills. These bookshelves can also be used for a redstone purpose, as they emit a redstone signal when interacted with.
A new decorational feature, hanging signs can be crafted by combining signs with chains. Unlike normal signs, they will hang from a block instead of being placed on or above one. They can be written on as usual, and dyed and glowed with dye and glow inc sacs.
If you love Minecraft as much as I do, you’ll likely have a strong opinion on these features. You may be underwhelmed, or quite very excited. Keep in mind, that this is probably a small fraction of what will happen in 1.20. And if you don’t play Minecraft, maybe this will encourage you to play! I play on Bedrock Edition, friend me at Daxolotl3588.
Thanks for reading the blog, if you have any other questions on 1.20 ask in chat.
