Motor Vehicle Fatality Rate in the United States

Cars are getting safer. Since peaking in 1937, the rate of people who die as a result of motor vehicle accidents in the United States has declined by 60%. Nevertheless, despite safer cars, recent years have seen a small increase in the death rate, perhaps due to de-policing and greater cell phone use.
