Why are the points discrete between 1914 and 1963 for marriages but the line for divorces is continuous throughout?

The divorce and marriage statistics are listed separately. The divorce statistics department seems to do a better job. 🤷

"UK marriages and divorces by year" with figures from only England and Wales... does Quizmaster support an independent Scotland and a united Ireland?

Dealing with UK statistics is a nightmare since they have 3 copies of everything. That's the good case. More often the Scots/Irish data doesn't exist at all. I'd encourage you to go find the data and then make your better chart. I'll be happy to feature it in place of this one.
