JetPunk 2024 - Year in Review
First published: Monday December 23rd, 2024
Overview
Here we come to the end of another year. 2024 has been and gone, and it is once again time to reflect on what JetPunk had in store this year.
This 5th annual edition brings some new sections to the mix, as we detail the various changes on JetPunk over the year, including highlights from some of the biggest quizzes created this year, users who joined us this year and also the most popular blogs of the year. At the end, we look at the traffic in 2024, and what we might look forward to in 2025.
What's New?
JetPunk throughout 2024 saw some major introductions, including one which is still reshaping JetPunk's landscape just 2 months after its introduction!
Sudden Death
This new quiz type was only introduced just under 2 months ago, and yet its impact has already been incredible. It all started back in early September with a quiz from Dimby, which would cause a monumental change in the shape of a brand new quiz type:
Country Elimination by Category - Sudden Death!
The concept was simple: Make one wrong move and the game ends.
This concept had not existed on JetPunk before, and it was well overdue for somebody to figure it out. The popularity of this quiz and many others Dimby had made inspired Quizmaster to make the format something native on JetPunk, with its entirely dedicated quiz format.
That format released on November 8th 2024, and since then has been a spark on JetPunk - the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Pandemic. In fact, here's some quick facts about Sudden Death:
- It boosted JetPunk so much that English had its largest EVER single day of takes, finally surpassing the record set in 2014.
- Total takes across all languages passed 1,000,000 takes on 6 separate days (a level never seen before)
- New highest single days for Dutch and French too
- Many entries to the top days for a single quiz
- Since November 8th, 20% of all quizzes published have been Sudden Death
- More Sudden Death quizzes have been created in 2 months than Tile Select in 5 years
One particular point of interest in there, the top days list for a single quiz. Let's look at the Top 10 from before November 8th 2024. Note that Countries of the World (and the French Pays du monde) are excluded from this list.
Quiz | Date | Takes |
---|---|---|
Most Keystrokes - 15 Second Sprint | 2022-12-02 | 42964 |

Find The Mystery Country By Hints | 2024-02-13 | 24871 |
Test de Rapidité : Allez de 1 à 100 | 2024-02-13 | 24042 |
As you can see, there's quite a variety of quizzes included from a long range of dates as well. So, let's see how that table has changed in just 45 days:
Quiz | Date | Takes |
---|---|---|
Most Keystrokes - 15 Second Sprint | 2022-12-02 | 42964 |
Capital Cities - Sudden Death | 2024-11-20 | 37118 |
Win the U.S. Presidential Election | 2024-11-05 | 34373 |
Memory Test - Sudden Death | 2024-12-20 | 30040 |
Smallest 25 U.S. States - Sudden Death | 2024-12-02 | 29828 |
Click Fast to Save the USA | 2023-09-20 | 29543 |
Find The Mystery Country Using Hints - Randomized! | 2022-09-17 | 28927 |
Win the U.S. Presidential Election | 2020-11-05 | 28461 |
China's Neighbours - Sudden Death | 2024-12-10 | 28443 |
Countries that Use the Euro - Sudden Death | 2024-11-23 | 27584 |
Suddenly, half the list is Sudden Death quizzes, during November and December which are traditionally lesser-performing months for JetPunk. It'll be very exciting as to what happens come January and traffic usually picks up (more on that below).
Whammies
Not long after the introduction of Sudden Death, a similar concept was introduced on Text and Picture quizzes: Whammies. This allows you to add "anti typeins" which, when triggered have the chance to end the quiz early. A good example of this is Countries of Europe by Flag - Whammies. It will be very interesting to see where this smaller addition can go!
Daily Trivia Challenge
Every single day there is now a new challenge on JetPunk: Daily Trivia.
This challenge, first introduced in May 2024, contains 10 multiple-choice general trivia questions. But - there's a catch! - the longer you take to answer the questions the fewer points you'll receive for getting it right.
This feature also contains a Friends leaderboard so you can compete with your JetPunk Friends every day to see who can top the board. Try it out here: Daily Trivia
You can also submit your own questions to daily trivia for review as well via the link above.
The daily trivia quizzes have amounted to over 1 million takes in total since their creation, with the most popular being the most recent, unsurprisingly given the rise in traffic!
As of the time of writing, the easiest day was:
October 26th, 2024 with an average of 8.16 / 10
and the hardest day:
November 12th, 2024 with an average of 5.24 / 10
It'll be interesting to see what the new year brings us with this feature.
JetPunk Message Board
In an effort to move away from Reddit, Quizmaster introduced the JetPunk Message Board. This is a place for users to ask questions, make suggestions and comments, all without ever having to leave JetPunk's website!
Despite this only being introduced in September of this year, it's had a plethora of activity already.
So far, the features of this are limited, but it has already proven to be popular and very useful.
Here's the stats so far:
- 574 threads have been created
- 126 unique users have created a thread (in comparison only 435 unique users have created a blog in 5+ years)
- Over 1500 thread likes have been given
- Over 5500 comments across all threads
Quiz Playlists
There's been so many new features this year that this one got pushed further down. However, it is still worthy of a mention. Quiz Playlists are a feature requested a few times over the years, but never implemented until now. Having been introduced all the way back in June 2024, this feature allows you to create a playlist, add any quizzes from across JetPunk to it, and then share a link to it with your friends. You can also see a list of them from a user's profile, for example this is a link to Insaniot's Playlists.
Here's some stats about Playlists so far:
- Over 17,000 playlists have been created
- An astonishing 12,600 unique users have created a playlist (in comparison only around 5000 users have created a quiz series)
- There are over 100,000 quizzes across all playlists
- Expectedly so, Countries of the World has been added to the most playlists, featuring in over 1200 of them
- 7% of all live quizzes are in at least 1 playlist (in just 6 months)
Despite these major changes, there were many smaller changes that didn't make the cut in this end-of-year review, such as TWO new badges, the option to disable SVG zooming, the unfortunate closing of the JetPunk shop and more! Thankfully, they're documented on JetPunk's Change Log for you to enjoy.
Top Quizzes
In 2024 the top 20 had some variety in content, with the exception of one noticeable trend... 11 of the top 20 were Sudden Death quizzes! (Despite only being released 2 months ago).
In order to ensure variety and fairness, we will limit the following top 5 to a maximum of 1 per user (they are still all in the overall top 10). We also limit only to English quizzes again, since #1 was (yet again!) a French quiz (Pays européens - Tapez la première lettre) by user Jerry928! Receiving almost 200k takes in less than a year! On top of that, French quizzes encompassed 10 of the top 20 quizzes. There will be a French "Yearly Review" which encompasses those soon.
In fact, the top 20 was flooded this year since only 3 quizzes were English and not Sudden Death - incredible!

So far over 127,000 quizzes have been released on JetPunk in 2024, that's 37,000 more than last year, and these have amounted to over 21.1 million takes! (Incredibly this is almost double last year!).
This also represents over 1.9% of all takes on JetPunk ever, or, perhaps more helpfully, about 8.6% of all takes this year! In fact over 250 million takes have been added this year, or rather 23% of all takes ever, have come from 2024. This shows that JetPunk is still growing very strongly.
And also, despite Sudden Death only existing for 2 months so far... it already accounted for 17% of the entire year's takes!
Top New Quiztakers
Once again, we will highlight the top quiztakers this year, with the top 3 users having at least level 79, and incredibly the top user surpassing level 100! I believe this is a new record for the most points achieved in the first year (at least since I've been making these yearly reviews).

As we progress, more and more quizzes are featured and so it becomes technically easier to achieve a high level. That said, to dedicate so much playtime to JetPunk every day is a truly incredible feat.
Top New Quizmakers
This year sees the return of the top quizmakers of the year. Once again the top quizmaker this year was not from English quizzes! In fact only 1 of the top 8 new quizmakers has their language set to English, all the rest were French and German. Even then that user's biggest quizzes are in French and Spanish, despite them being Greek!

Top Blogs
Once again, we also bring you the most liked blogs on JetPunk that were released this year. This year there were 583 blogs released (so far), by a total of 114 unique users.

There were far more than these 3 though, they were just the top ones by user over 30 likes.
It should be noted that the top 4 blogs were comprised entirely of Quizmaster's blogs and my blogs, mostly announcements about new things.
Minigame Stats
A new section for this year's review blog. Some statistics around the minigames on JetPunk!

U.S. State Puzzle
The ever popular U.S. State Puzzle minigame had a good run this year, with over 100,000 plays in a single year.
Also, this year saw a new record being set by RandomSportsKid at just 43 seconds! This broke the record set by cooladri over 3.5 years ago of 49 seconds.
Number Factoring Game
The Taxman game continues to gain steady takes throughout the year, reaching over 35,000 plays this year.

Even Split
Perhaps the least popular minigame on JetPunk, as it is one requiring the widest breadth of knowledge. Even Split still managed 15,000 plays this year. Not great, but better than nothing!
Geography Snap
By far the most popular for the "four" minigames (i.e. not Word Search), Geography Snap remains very popular, with over 310,000 plays this year by over 9000 unique users (and probably many more that didn't have an account - as they accounted for roughly 25% of all takes). In total 9.6 million tiles have been matched this year alone!
Four users now have over 1,000,000 tiles matched, with SilverDog in the lead with over 2 million tiles matched! A very impressive total.
He also has most of the world records, including the elusive "Flags+Countries" Easy Mode, in just 3.03 seconds - very fast! In fact, this game mode has now been played over 320,000 times alone.
Snap also reached a total since it was created of 50,000,000 total tiles matched this summer.

JetPunk Word Search
As many of you may know from last year's Year in Review, JetPunk Word Search retired as of January 31st 2023 from its "daily" format... only for the entire back-catalogue to become playable on demand from April 1st 2023. So, we've had a full year now of this being the case, how has the format fared?
Well, this year saw an increase of over 1.1 million plays across all puzzles! It also saw the creation of five new Mega puzzles.
The least taken puzzle is Mega #25 - Mega Anagrams with just 1597 plays.
The most taken puzzle is (expectedly) #1 - Rivers with over 30,500 plays now!
The most taken puzzle that's not on the first page is #350 - "S" Countries with over 16,800 plays.
There are many puzzles with an average of 100%, but the hardest puzzle is Mega #27 - Mega Hidden Capitals with just 67.3% of words found on average.
Overall Stats
Overall, here's a breakdown of the current total takes of all the minigames as of December 22nd 2024:
Minigame | Total Plays |
---|---|
Word Search | 3,104,635 |
Geography Snap | 1,767,596 |
U.S. State Puzzle | 487,764 |
Taxman | 179,339 |
Even Split | 103,389 |
Traffic in 2024
Looking back over the traffic of 2024, we can see clear changes in the fluctuations over the year of quizzes created and number of users that joined JetPunk.
Analysing this, we see that the number of users that joined JetPunk doesn't correlate to the number of quizzes released. In fact, the number of quizzes is pretty constant all year as per usual, with the exception of a massive peak in late April. As always the influx of users trends towards school and office time (i.e. anything outside school summer holidays), hence why there's a big dip in new users over summer.
Comparing to 2023 below, there is surprisingly not that big a difference. We can see the post-summer pickup was stronger this year, especially thanks to Sudden Death above. But also we consistently had more quizzes created per week all year, with the one week in late April having double its comparator last year.
Looking to 2025
Several of the changes this year were unplanned before the year started, including the Sudden Death quiz type. Who knows what might come next year!
As always, in last year's blog some users predicted some things for this year. Let's see how they turned out.
MG17
Prediction: JetPunk will grow to 1 billion takes by September, a new minigame, learning mode for everyone
Actual: Once again, MG managed to get the takes almost spot-on! We reached 1 billion officially on August 20th 2024, just before MG said we would. Amazing stuff. Once again, no new minigame though. And the Learning Mode is more likely to be removed at this point, than to be made available to everybody.
McKenzieFam
Prediction: 1 billion takes achieved, search function improved, streaks leaderboard, a way to submit quotes/facts
Actual: The takes prediction was correct, but the others didn't happen. Although, the Daily Trivia does allow user-submitted questions, so maybe a half-credit for that one!
DictatorTal
Prediction: Level 150 becomes possible, 85 people with max level in English, more Dutch features than Portuguese
Actual: The total level was absolutely right, we now have a level 155 possible with 100,000 points now possible too. 64 people have the max level in English, not too far off. And indeed, Dutch now has more features than Portuguese! Excellent predictions.
FreeStater
Prediction: 1000th interesting fact, a new quiz format, the 2025 April Fools quiz made before October
Actual: We are now at 1023 interesting facts, so that's a great guess! You also got the quiz format right too, with the introduction of Sudden Death. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, the 2025 April Fools quiz hasn't been made yet!
Aficionado
Prediction: A new mini-game, User Blogs are more active compared to 2022, Taylor Swift quizzes will dominate again
Actual: No new mini-game. But, there were more user blogs released in 2024 compared to 2022! In 2024 there was 583, 2023 was 546 but 2022 was only 495. However 2021 is still king with 1096 blogs published in total.
And actually the Taylor Swift quizzes performed much worse this year, with only around ⅓ of the takes from 2023.
There were a few more predictions, but this was a selection of them. Thanks everybody for making them! Let's see what you come up with for next year :)
What stood out in 2024 to you on JetPunk? What future developments would you like to see in 2025 and beyond? What do you plan to do to improve JetPunk yourself?
All data on this page is correct as of December 22nd, 2024. Data from JetPunk.
For 2025, let's dream: 20 users in the top 100 will be French (currently "only" 12, quite challenging). One French blog in the top 5, French overtaking English in takes at least one day and once again a French quiz first in the top new quizzes ranking. Very ambitious or even unrealistic at this point, but let's hope.
First, I wanted to point out that Bellingol, who very recently entered the top 200 quizmakers, could have absolutely dominated the top new creators leaderboard if the considered date were based on the first quiz published rather than the account creation date.
Second, while it's of course not mentioned here, the biggest new feature for me this year is the translator menu, which has made the work of all trusted users so much easier. It seemed important to me to thank you a lot for that!
I predict that for 2025 I'll have a spot on this blog. :)
My predictions last time seemed to be more centred around what I wanted to happen, rather than what actually seemed likely to happen. Let's do better this time.
For '25:
At least one new quiz format (or added function, like whammies)
Takes counter is at more than 1.5 billion
A non-Quizmaster or Stewart blog makes it into the top 5
I get 2 of my facts added to the IF pages
I make it over quizmaker rank #350 at some point in the year, without getting a featured quiz
More blogs released in 2025 than in 2024
Thanks for an excellent Year in Review, Stewart!
P.S. this is the fourth blog in the last 24 hours or so to have a Jeppy as the thumbnail
For next year I predict that there will be more Polish quizzes featured than English in 2025. There will be a badge in a foreign language for the first time. Catalan will finally be a language available on JetPunk.
Not to be rude, but JetPunk might actually be a better or at least more peaceful place without him
Didn't thought about big predictions for this next year. Let's say that french section will continue to overtaking the english one (on proportion of french speakers in the top 200 and global takes of the website). And also that JetPunk will continue to grow (average numbers being higher in all points compared to 2024). Ah yeah, and also that you will publish a Year in Review at the end of it. Don't make that last one going wrong, because those blogs are truly a Christmas gift to all of us!
New quiz function added
I surpass 100,000 takes with under 100 quizzes
600 blogs will be released in 2025
Stewart will reach 600 blog subscribers
25 additional users will reach Level 100
kalbahamut will return at least once during 2025 with a blog
Fewer charts will be published
Word search will get a revamp
Daily Trivia will still be a thing
However, I have 556 quizzes, not 625, but whatever
Merry Christmas to everyone!
- At least one capital city will change on the Capitals of the World quiz
- Less blogs will be published than this year
- More sudden death modes will release, perhaps a multiple choice version
- The French section will grow much faster than the English section
We did achieve our goal of stopping yap on the Interesting Facts pages, which is visible when you compare pages 196 and 197 to pages afterwards, with the yap mainly being moved to the Interesting Facts Group. The Message Board is a great place to share ideas and communicate with others, and is also a great addition to this site. The Sudden Death quizzes definitely boosted this site’s quiz takes, and while at first many duplicate quizzes were made, they had a large impact on this site in 2024, despite being released later in the year, so props to Dimby for that. Thanks for this blog and moderating the site Stewart, and here are my predictions for 2024, considering I have been yapping for this long.
The Countries of the World Quiz will reach 45 million takes.
There will be a new language added to the front page.
New minigame?
Stewart reaches 50 million takes, and QM reaches 500 million.
JetPunk reaches 1200 interesting facts.
Thanks to you and to QM for keeping this site up for yet another year.
Anyways, here are some predictions I have:
Quizmaster hits 500 million plays
A new mini game is added
No new quiz types are added
There will be exactly 324 new featured quizzes (definitely not getting that right)
Anyways, here’s my JetPunk 2025 predictions:
- Sudden death is the 2nd most-taken quiz type for the year, behind only text quizzes
- Some new feature is added that’s pretty much entirely unrelated to everything else on the site (maybe it’s some sort of bias, but I feel like these get added all the time)
- Wordsearch creator? (it’s been mentioned a few times in the past, and I think 2025 is when it finally drops)
- JetPunk is NOT purchased by Orcspel
- No new featured section
- No new quiz type, but some alteration will happen, like the whammies
- JetPunk will reach 1,400 billion takes
- Nusantara will be the new capital of Indonesia, hence the capitals quiz will update for good
- An update will happen, improving the groups, making discord useless
I should have said 1.4 billion or 1,400 million, but I mixed them up...
And yes, here in Greece we use commas and periods opposite from you and that has generally confused me even more
Congrats to my friend Gademotsili for being one of the biggest Quizmakers this year.
Predictions:
Greek section will massively expand in number of quizzes and hopefully with that also takes (less a prediction and more a promise haha)
JetPunk will have it's best year ever takes wise, if this year was 250 mil, I predict anywhere from 350-500 million, perhaps even that is understating.
Multiple tweaks to the message board
Some change in the nomination/spotlight system
Not sure if this is a trackable stat but the amount of quizzes that get collabed will drastically increase
That's all my hopefully accurate predictions
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
any particular reason you're not planning to develop it further - is it just too much effort to roll out for more quizzes? if so i'd love it if you still kept the current 5 or so up
But for JetPunk Overall it was cool aswell, many new features, cool new quizzes,... For me personally the best year since i use JetPunk (My first contact with this Website was in 2018).
Another great year of JetPunk. The new additions have been so much fun. Thanks to Dimby for pushing the boundaries and Quizmaster for making things like Sudden Death available to all.
Look forward to what’s in store for 2025 :)
Over 300 different users get a question on the Daily Trivia Challenge
30+ users will become top 1,000 quizmakers
and 20+ more Sudden Death quiz features
