JetPunk Daily Word Search
First published: Tuesday February 1st, 2022
Today, we released a brand new minigame: JetPunk Daily Word Search
Every Day, Something Different
This new minigame brings a unique feature compared to other JetPunk minigames. Looking at Taxman and U.S. State Puzzle, where they are the same every time you play, and where Geography Snap and Even Split generate a random game every time you play. Well, we wanted something a bit different.
Introducing JetPunk Daily Word Search! (Or JPDWS for you acronymers). This brings about a new way to play JetPunk Minigames, no longer do you have a random game, but instead every single day there is a new puzzle, hand-crafted by myself, that is the same for everybody! You can easily use it to compare against others and brag about how good you are at them.
Once Upon a Theme...
However, the fun doesn't stop there. After all, just a word search day-in day-out every day might get tiresome. So, we're already switching it up a gear!
Every day of the week has its own "theme", whether that's Countries Tuesday or Cryptic Sunday, there's plenty to look forward. You can start the week off with an "easy" grid every Easy Monday, and you end the week on Fresh Friday with a unique theme, always something different to look forward to!
At Your Own Pace
We chose not to include any form of timing mechanism in these word searches. Why? Because that would ruin the fun! After all, some people want the challenge of finding all the words, not just however many they can find in 3 minutes.
To help with this, your scores and current words found are saved, even if you leave the tab and come back! Even more, if you're logged in to JetPunk, you can take a break from one device and pick up exactly where you left off on another!
The catch? You have to do it before the word search resets at Midnight EST, same time the Front Page resets.
Once It's Gone, It's Gone
Finally, we get to the sad part. Once a day has passed, the word search for that day is gone. Never to be seen or played again. So don't miss out! If you miss a single day, you may never know what that word search was. Plus, it only takes a few minutes, and it's good brain training!
Overall, we hope you enjoy your new minigame, and don't forget to share your scores each day, especially each Saturday, where there is a secret challenge that awaits everybody. But you'll find out what that is in good time.
Not to mention that wordsearch's been my all time favorite :D
I can also see how the design is completely different in comparison to other minigames. Is even like animated when it show the stats! I love this! And on the stats, that’s what I meant by adding a new type of bar chart. You have a single bar for a category, not organized in groups, like (Feb 1 = 7. Feb 2 = 5. Feb 3 = 2), without the dates (e.g.)
And for finish, what about adding the comments to the game? :)
And no, comments were deliberately not added, because don't want to slow the page down and clutter it.
What did the clipboard paste for you? What device are you on?
Understand. This mean DWS was the hardest minigame that was ever worked on?
And I’m on Safari actually. It pasted what I said on the second paragraph of the second comment, because I moved it to a been comment and don’t crowd the first one:
“I can also see how the design is completely different in comparison to other minigames. Is even like animated when it show the stats! I love this!”
I'll take a look into the copying on Safari.
Alright. On Chrome (at least desktop), it works perfectly:

Saturday's there will be no word list and you'll have to make a judgement on when you think you found them all.
Sunday's are cryptic, so you'll be give clues to words instead of the words themselves.
The puzzles are not meant to be extremely difficult, because the more difficult you make it the smaller your audience will be. I tested today's grid with non-JetPunkers (and somewhat intelligent people) and they struggled to find all the words.
This is definitely a great idea, and I'm excited to check back here every day!
It just means your stats are slightly inaccurate for now, but they will be cleaned later :)
Sorry for the problems
In the meantime, I can brag about my higher score despite playing only two games. :)
Not a big issue for me :)
Truth Social??How about a wordle-style game where the answer is either a country or a capital, and you get the usual hints about letters being incuded or not after each guess, and also a hint telling you if it's too long or too short. I'm sure that couldn't take more than 1,000 hours to put together!
Today happens to be a small 7x7 word search, but the list won't always be provided, topics are switched up (including non-geography) and size varies. So I don't think it's necessary unfulfilling.
Also, I think you vastly overestimate people's ability to do word searches. JetPunk hardcores? Sure, they'll find it "easy", but I have tested many of these with a lot of general public who aren't nerds or those who would frequent JetPunk, and they've enjoyed these word searches as a challenge. Some of us just find it easier to analyse a grid of words and find the words, but for many people (most, in fact) it is a difficult thing to visualise.
The main choice of word search was because we don't have the manpower to upkeep other puzzles, whereas word searches are easier to create and less maintenance.
(And I'm off to find that countries/capitals wordle variant now!)
And yeah I can see how if today was your first puzzle you'd be disappointed :)
Thanks for spotting it, should be fixed now!
As a small improvement, I was just wondering, why don't you use the letters remaining after all the words are found to create some sort of "solution" or "final word"? this would give a hint as if the scheme was correctly completed even when no word list is provided. You could then even add a yellow box to put the solution into to get 100% completion.
Don't know if it's feasible. Anyway the game is really enjoyable as it is. Kudos!
And actually it's because it is not always possible. For example today, there are 13 remaining squares (which I tried to minimize as much as possible). #2 and #3 both had words made from the remaining letters, but it wasn't officially part of the puzzle.
The other issue? The lines are currently transparent enough to allow several to overlap without blocking the view of the letters, but this means it is not immediately clear which letters are leftover at the end.
It's an idea for the future, and maybe a few specials or something, but I don't think it works as a general case. Thanks though!
because this thing is basically trolling me now I can't find it...
I really wish that the previous puzzle wouldn't go away though.
How did you find the letters list for today?
"Katherine" was because she's always known as "Kate" here and I assumed the long form Catherine would be K.
"Phillip" is normally two Ls but apparently this one is just the one L!
I can't believe how badly today's puzzle was created... I suppose everybody's got to have a bad day at some point (and this at least proves to people that they're not automatically generated...)
I must say, I am surprised it took 4 months to make a mistake
