You know it’s a bad day when you miss your own question 😅

Serves you right for giving us such a ruthless question 😜 If it makes you feel any better it was the only one I didn't get 😂

When I made it I felt it wasn’t that bad… Cairo and Madrid are clearly like 1000 km apart north south, so I just figured at worst it was a 50/50. I got the 50/50 wrong 😂

Yep, you could do it by process of elimination arriving at Cairo and Madrid. And since Cairo is further south, then all you have to do is triangulate where New Orleans is in respect to Cairo. Chicago is basically the same longitude as Rome, and Rome is roughly similar to Madrid, a bit more North, whereas New Orleans is a LOT more south, so there you go.

Haha yeah I narrowed it down to those two as well but Wuhan threw me because I couldn't envisage it being that far south

Yeah, i didn't get your question right either. That was hard.

Yikes that was a difficult one. Went too fast and missed the obvious Madrid one and stupidly confused Robinson Crusoe with Gulliver's Travels

I knew Madrid was north of Cairo, I just wasn't sure which one was the wrong one :(

me too!!!

In hindsight I could've worked it out because I know Madrid is roughly in line with New York, and New Orleans is further south, but instead I kept looking at Wuhan and scratching my head 😅

Questions were not that good today, though 7 was a good pick

Definetily disagree. Not a single question requiring native english or some local cultural knowledge, and they were still all difficult enough.

I don't really see how 10 isn't that, and arguably the big mac as well

But sir… it’s just a model…

I said “hop in.” *cocks gun*

duckwantbread, I think you should consider that Elon Musk - much as Howard Hughes - is better known in the US than elsewhere. I mean, we follow your politics and Musk with X is often making the news worldwide, but we have our own local tycoons and/or more or less crazy politicians, and while we are familiar with US most famous characters, we might not know as much about them than people living in the US.

It is very easy to not even hear the name of Howard Hughes in their life for a young European, I suppose it's less so for a USian.

I thought they were on par. Felt a bit different though; there may be more than just QM doing the curating.

I'm a bit bummed I missed Everest. In hindsight, I know I've heard the term "The Eight Thousanders"

I always look at the average score and when it is low, I know I'll have a good day, and vice versa... 10/10

McDonald's signature burger, which has a famous rhythmic recitation of its components.

(I feel like I'm supposed to add something to create the possessive form of a noun [McDonald's] that is already in possessive form)

I almost went with Armenia because it has Iran in it, even though scrambled. Then I saw rOMANia and went with that

The stats support your assessment. I didn't it think it was so awful, though I do feel that latitude is something we generally do not intuit very well. Vertical distance is like this also.

I really expected the responses to be more split between Madrid and Egypt. They're pretty close to each other which made it much easier for visualising for me. So I knew it had to be one of those

Yeah I really struggle with latitude/longitude, even remembering which is which; it's annoying because in all other respects geography is my subject XD

Yeah I thought it was somewhere around 25 to 30,000 feet but I was trying to go fast so I basically guessed second to highest. Phew. As least I could sing the Big Mac ingredients though.

30ºN question was really good lol stumped so many geography nerds that the distribution of answers was somehow almost even. Clearly all of know where the cities are but our perspective on where they are relative to each other is off 🥴

Is it really that hard to figure out Spain is north of Egypt?
+1
Level 91
Sep 18, 2024
Hard enough for many of us, apparently. I probably would have gotten it right if I had given myself more time to think, but I was trying to be quick.
+1
Level 81
Sep 22, 2024
There's an extra step in there, I figured out Spain was further north than Egypt but didn't correctly figure out which one was in line with the others, I'd imagine that's more of the crux of it

8/10 but 93rd centile shows it was hard today! Though I'm secretly pleased I got the Big Mac one wrong...

I didn't find 2 hard at all - one of the easiest but who doesn't put tomato in a burger?

Mind you it could be argued that McDonalds don't put meat in their burgers and that the packaging is the most nutritional part of their meals
