I still find the banana thing so insane, imagine having that much money and choosing to spend millions on a banana and a roll of duct tape. Almost makes designer watches look reasonable 😂
The saddest thing about it is the man who sold the banana was just a poor fruit vendor trying to make a living. He didn't get any of the proceeds from this $6 million sale even though it would have been impossible without him. Injustice if there was any.
I think even the artist would agree with you. The "art" is meant to be a statement on how rich people will buy anything if a famous artist has his name attached to it (he's the same guy that did the solid gold toilet titled "America").
I doubt he'll complain about the money he's made from a quick joke though. He won't see much if any of the $6m since this is was a resale but he sold 3 bananas for about $400k in total in 2019, which is about $400k more than he should have been able to sell them for.
