Some guy dove deep to recover the remains of his friend. Sadly, he ended up dying in the process, but he did manage to recover his friend. It wasn't a free dive. High concentration of oxygen and something else.
I’ll take the slowish 10/10. I believe I remember seeing a clip of the news story on one of the attempts to break the water speed record. Pretty horrifying to see, honestly. I wish they wouldn’t try to break it, but apparently a few teams are planning on making attempts in the near future.
Lol. Whatever you did to get 9971 is definitely cheating. I assume looking over the whole quiz, refreshing the page, and then just clicking really fast the answers you already know. That's cheating.
The distribution of your scores is pretty obviously suspect, too.
This indicates that your most common scores should be 7 and 8. But your normal curve is way out of whack. It's so egregious that I assumed you were just openly cheating, lol.
Ahh I removed him from mine a couple of weeks ago for that exact reason XD I'd struggle to get scores that high even knowing all the answers and their positions in advance lmao
Reminds me of the usual topper of my leaderboard (dcc) who has regular scores between 9930 and 9950+. My personal "best" result is officially 9942, which I admit I only got by cheating. Yet that result is still way lower than dcc's top ten. Also, their score distribution is even more telling:
Their worst results came mostly in the early months (May - July 24), but since then, apart from a few exceptions, it was top scores all the way. I mean, even the best quiz champions in the world wouldn't be able to achieve such consistant results, and at such speeds.
I think that might be another one I ended up unfriending 😅 There's been about half a dozen where I was sick of seeing obviously fake scores at the top every other day. A couple more I'm suspicious of due to a recent uptick in their score distributions, but nothing horrendously egregious so far.
Knew the first nine questions and was thinking forever about the last one. Decided for the correct answer by excluding the others based on the year given. I assumed all others should have more recent records.
Aww I was on for 100% until I had to guess the final question. For some reason I thought free diving records had been set quite recently, so I immediately ruled that out and guessed from the other three.
I'm a pretty good proponent of the Anthropocene, but I can't believe I couldn't remember what we're in otherwise. D'oh. At least I know the name of one Pokemon.
8/10 jeesh....I know that bronze is an alloy but einsteinium sounded so silly....like unobtanium in Pandora. I'll have to research dying in a water speed record

10/10: 38%; 9/10: 9%; 8/10: 13%; 7/10: 13%; 6/10: 12%; 5/10: 9%

That's why we had to get rid of the leaderboard.
What surprises me is that people would still cheat.
10/10: 82%; 9/10: 7%; 8/10: 6%; 7/10: 2%; 6/10: 2%

Offshore power boat racing from the 70's-90's has been popular on youtube too
You are #1 on your friend leaderboard!
This is your 18th best score all-time

Honestly though I got a fairly lucky guess on the Ocean's Eleven question so I'll take that haha
Holocene...Naturally. How dumb can I be... (Sarcasm)
