🎵 "This grips me more than would a

Muddy old river or Reclining Buddha" 🎵

I remember singing this when I was in Bangkok. Only reason I know the musical!

I'd let you watch, I would invite you but the queens we use would not excite you.

Now I didn't know that song came from that musical, you learn something new everyday.
+4
Level 52
Jul 23, 2025
Are you saying that looking back you could have played it differently?

Level 57

8/10 No clue what the theme was today

Level ∞

Theme paranoia strikes again.
+3
Level 52
Jul 23, 2025
Never heard of the Chagos islands! That felt extra difficult on an otherwise easier quiz.
+10
Level ∞
Jul 23, 2025
It was kind of a big deal in the UK.
+4
Level 63
Jul 23, 2025
Yeah, probably easy as a Brit to think that’s a ‘free’ question. I won’t complain. Probably only trickled down to people overseas if they have a particular interest in geopolitics
+4
Level 58
Jul 23, 2025
Tbh I'm not even sure it was that a big thing in the UK. It got heavy coverage in the press, largely whipped up by certain political figures, but it doesn't really feature much in everyday conversation.
+1
Level 74
Jul 23, 2025
It was on the news recently. That's why I remembered. A year from now, I probably won't have a clue anymore...
+2
Level 68
Jul 23, 2025
It's another entry in the era of clown world history
+2
Level 61
Jul 23, 2025
I only heard of them, and the transfer, because of memes about the sun finally setting on the British Empire.

I think no 10 is more to do with "Madame" - french for "my Dam" - dams are on rivers...

and the trick answer is AmsterDAM

Re:10. Everything is liquid when melted.
+1
Level 63

cant melt water
+1
Level 83
Jul 24, 2025
Surely you've seen melted H2O. The fact that there's a different term for it when melted vs frozen is a quirk of language, not a question of science.
+3
Level 75
Jul 23, 2025
The UK hasn't ceded control over the Chagos Islands yet. Neither have ratified the treaty yet
+2
Level 53
Jul 23, 2025
8/10 First good score in a while.
+2
Level 79
Jul 23, 2025
9/10, did not know about the first Madam Tussauds museum being in London
+3
Level 53
Jul 23, 2025
7/10 guessed Peru, Malapropism and 20 000.

I had heard of the musical Chess. 😊

Here I thought I was gonna crush today cause I got the first 5 right but then I got every one after wrong

Shame
+5
Level 83
Jul 23, 2025
Dangit, I had an amazing time going but guessed 20,000 metres. Clearly I jumbled metres and leagues because of that darn Jules Verne!
+3
Level 68
Jul 23, 2025
Sneaky option, adding that in there

I read that one twice, took a little time but go it.

Level 71
Jul 23, 2025
How is jumbo shrimp an oxymoron??? II don't see how the two are contradictory.
+6
Level 83
Jul 23, 2025
Jumbo means big. Shrimp means small.
+4
Level 71
Jul 23, 2025
Shrimp means small??? I never knew that...
+5
Level 83
Jul 23, 2025
Yeah, if you call a man a shrimp you’re insulting them for being short or otherwise small-looking.
+2
Level 71
Jul 23, 2025
In what country???
+5
Level 52
Jul 23, 2025
I would hade thought it was pretty widely used. I can speak for NZ and Australia, & evidently it’s also used in the US.
+3
Level 64
Jul 23, 2025
Yes it's used in the US. You can call anything "shrimpy" to mean it's small--a dog, a car, an apartment, a country, etc.
+3
Level 89
Jul 23, 2025
Same in the UK too, looks like it's universal in the Anglosphere haha
+2
Level 47

10/10…again 5 mins after I wake up seems the best time for quizzing!

+2
Level 83

9/10 Didn't know the Challenger Deep answer.
+3
Level 89
Jul 23, 2025
7/10 for me today, not my strongest showing. Never heard of a musical called Chess; went against my first instinct on the succulent question and picked the fern instead; and by the last question I was on tilt and picked Amsterdam even though I've been to the London one 😅
+3
Level 80
Jul 23, 2025
I missed Q10 as well, New Orleans is cool but a little weird so I went with that. Starting a new string of only missing Q10 again after finally breaking it yesterday.
+3
Level 89
Jul 23, 2025
I can see the logic there, they've got a lot of French heritage there too. If anywhere in France had been an option I definitely would've gone for that without even thinking about it haha

9/10, missed Q6
+2
Level 32
Jul 23, 2025
I misclicked on the first one but I knew it
+4
Level 65
Jul 23, 2025
Surprised at how many people missed the Madame Tussauds question, I thought the London one was the only one, I didn't know other cities had copied it. Though now I know there are others and I suspect many people know about those ones and are as ignorant as I was about there being multiple.
+4
Level 89
Jul 23, 2025
To be fair I also thought that for many years, but I got in my own head today and my thought process went something like "Well hang on, Amsterdam had the first stock exchange, so maybe they had the first Tussaud's too"

Admittedly, not my finest hour XD

+1
Level 76
Sep 23, 2025
I knew there were multiple, not specifically knew about London having one. But I am most familiar with the Amsterdam one, so I instinctively went for that one. (After a short pause, could they have been the first? yea I suppose they could have)
+2
Level 69
Jul 23, 2025
insane question 6 guess to get me the 10/10
+3
Level 64
Jul 23, 2025
I won't complain about UK-centric questions, and I did know Madame Tussaud's, but I missed the Kenya one and the Mariana Trench because I know it's about 6 1/2 miles but my American brain has no idea what that is in meters!
+2
Level 80
Jul 23, 2025
OK, back at it. Only missed Q10. I thought London and for some reason went with New Orleans.
