Nooooo! The random guess on the Celtic nation made me lose my best score ever. I had to go fast so as soon as I didn’t instantly know it I just guessed the first option. In hindsight I would’ve easily beaten 9900 if I just thought for a second about the “Brittan” part of Brittany. Flecking egg sauce!
Similar position, I had to guess for nr 10 and guessed wrong. But I would have gotten above 9900 which I did not think I would ever get, was already getting excited.
Could have been even faster than I was going, but was trying not to make mistakes and not instantly press on instinct.
I knew the celtic nation, but it slowed me down a bit making sure I got the correct translation for Breton/Bretagne and not falling into a trap. (hey look another B!)
Nr 4 and 8 were slightly slower aswell (below 990). Have heard of 8 so often but have literally no idea what it is, some tv show I believe? The other answers did not make sense though.
It's one of those questions that's very easy if you've seen Airplane, impossible otherwise because his main scene directly references the player:
"Wait a minute. I know you. You're Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers."
"I'm sorry, son, but you must have me confused with someone else. My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot."
"You are Kareem! I've seen you play. My dad's got season tickets. I think you're the greatest, but my dad says you don't work hard enough on defense. And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try... except during the playoffs."
"The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!"
Maybe you’re too young to know the song? It’s from the 60s and it’s the most 60s thing ever. That said I grew up in the 80s & would have thought everyone knew the song!
Ow it is a song? It might have been well known locally, but not universally at all. Especially not to those who don't spend a lot of time on the internet and places like this site where you can pick up this sort of stuff (places with fora). I think I have mainly heard references to it on this site.
With universally I meant internationally haha, now I am picturing some aliens in an ufo debating the subject haha. "You seriously have not heard of this?!" :D
I think it's the first time ever I've gotten 10/10 with no guesses two days in a row. Maybe I should have insomnia and take the quiz at 4:30 am more often! And I just re-watched Airplane last week!
Surprised the Puff question was so low, it was such a well-known kids' song...USA pop culture of the sixties tho' it was banned in some countries, Puff = marijuana. Got Kareen mixed up with Shaq in Space Jam...
Can't believe I fell for the Space Jam trap at the final hurdle, was on for an all-time high score there, might have even cracked 9,940 😭😅 Not very often the first 9 questions fall that nicely for me haha
Loved the film Airplane! An absolute classic. A solid 8/10 for me. I was debating between Wagner and Tchaikovsky for the Valkyries question and went the wrong way. Britttany and Norrmandy are both in the northwest of France and again, I chose the wrong one.
1. Jordan-Michael Jordan
2. Kobe
3. Toronto Raptors
4. IDK
5. Chicago Bulls
6. Nikola Jokic? both Serbian and named Nikola
7. IDK
8. Orlando Magic, Magic Johnson
9. Boston Celtics
10. Kareem Abdul Jabbar
I'm probably going insane since there's been so many themes lately, if there is a theme I can't find it
this could be one of QM's subtler themes...
Zion Williamson.
Golden State Valkyries.
7. Franz & Moritz Wagner

I would never have guessed the theme, I have no clue about basketball.
Been away for about a week. Hoped I would get smarter. I didn't.

Got the last two wrong.
