I should not have missed Q10 being that I study weather, I hit the north 45 too fast. (the Singapore F1 is about to start) Isn't there a wind in Australia called something like the 'Doctor's Medicine'?
The wind you are referring to is the 'Fremantle Doctor'. It's a wind in Perth, Western Australia. Fremantle is a suburb of Perth and on the coast. The CBD of Perth is a bit inland. The 'Fremantle Doctor' is actually a pleasant wind most of the time.
10/10, was mostly rapid until the last question, where I took a bit of time to remember the old sailors' adage "below 40 degrees south there are no laws, and below 50 degrees south there is no God".
9/10 I had an educated guess on Q10, because of the ‘Roaring Forties’ being a strong wind area near Antarctica, as there’s no land to slow the winds! I failed on Q4 as I’m not familiar with cyclones, living in South Wales! Proud though!
Woo hoo! At last! A really good 10/10 score. It's been so long. For Q4, I had to remember that a cyclone is the same as a hurricane - different terminology used in different parts of the world. For Q10, I live in the southern hemisphere so I know about the Roaring Forties. One point of note - Wellington, New Zealand is windier than Chicago.
The daily quiz is such a staple of my morning routine these days, love this site
