Got excited by my high scores (two 996s!) in the first few questions so my brain shut off and got 5/10..

Viva l'Italia!

Second best score of all time

Same here! If I could read English any faster, this could have been a new highscore. Still: No answer under 981 points is quite pleasing.

So like… if a kid sang well they might decide to castrate him?
+6
Level 83
Oct 27, 2025
Speaking of castration, I did quite poorly on the quiz today. 6/10
+1
Level 66
Oct 27, 2025
Yes....choir boys were generally castrated around 8 years old since women weren't allowed to sing in churches. I guess the Pope looked the other way.

Missed question 8, clicked C while that was actually the only answer I knew was Danté.
+3
Level 54
Oct 27, 2025
I took a long time on Q10 because of the ‘why’ nature of the question. I thought it was asking ‘Why were they called castrati?’
+3
Level 52
Oct 27, 2025
Yes, very strange wording to that question!
+1
Level 66
Oct 27, 2025
The question says 'eunuchs' which means 'castrated men' and 'why' were they castrated? Castrati refers to the group of singers, similar to colorature, soubrette, tenors, baritone, sopranos. Castrati's would have been categorized in terms of what would now be the 'female' voice, all the categories above tenor. The last castrati died in 1922...
+2
Level 94
Oct 27, 2025
Yes, but the question doesn't ask why they were castrated, but either why Italy was home to them, or why they were called castrati. Odd wording.
+2
Level 66
Oct 27, 2025
I see what you mean....maybe an answer could have been: Because women weren't allowed to sing in churches & the Popes liked choir music?....lol

9/10 for me, didn't realise until today that I had no idea where Ferrari was based. Took a shot in the dark with Siena, but no dice, cars are my kryptonite once again 😂

If the question had only been about Ferrari I might not have gotten it, but the bit about balsamic vinegar clued me in on the right answer.

No excuse, Frankii!! Don't you have a nice salad with excellent olive oil from Pisa and balsamic vinegar from Modena? Or drizzled over bruschetta or vanilla ice cream? You don't need to know cars, just eat well! 😊
