8/10 which could do easily have been 10/10. I thought Nevada seemed most likely from the word, then thought "nah, Why would Nevada be called snowy, it's a desert" so chose Montana.
8/10....Fell down in the beer hall & got clubbed....pleased that the rest I easily knew. Laudanum, opium, belladona, cocaine, arsenic in the Victoria era, painkillers & beauty treatments....of course, they didn't have penicillin, aspirin, so make do with what you have!
With the percentages the way they are on Q10, I'm guessing only like 10% of people actually knew the answer, and the rest of us were just flat guessing between the four. I'm was not a lucky guesser. Sad. 9/10
Solid 10/10 today, 9,928. Absolutely flew through the first 6. Was not sure about Champlain between New Orleans and Quebec City though, and laudanum was a process of elimination.
I knew it from reading Victorian-era novels. Belladona eye drops to make a woman's eyes 'dewy', arsenic used to 'whiten' the complexion, lead paste to cover facial smallpox scars, laudenum to 'calm' women during menses, mercury for pimples - obsession with outward beauty & a lot of addiction
With 6, 9, 8, 9, and 9 points it's been a good week though.
And Q10 was a 50/50 and I picked Ether.
Educated guesses on 2 (never heard "regicide", but latin "rex" = king), 5 and 10 worked out. 7 was more like a hunch - but a lucky one.

Knew them all today. I remember seeing a little vial of Laudanum in an old apothecary at the Château de Chenonceau in France.
