There is a widespread virus which is thought to cause obesity. In one study, 30% of obese Americans had antibodies to Human adenovirus 36 but only 5% of non-obese Americans did. It's possible that developing a vaccine for this virus could radically reduce obesity rates and increase life expectancy.

In one part of Yellowstone national park, there are no laws, as no one lives in the Idahoan part of Yellowstone, and there must be a jury from the area the crime was committed, and there is no jury if there are no residents in that area. If someone commits a crime after reading this, I do not hold responsibility.
Isn't the right to be judged by a jury of your peers a right that you can waive in the US? I believe it is in Britain. So make sure you don't accidentally do that, or you could still be found guilty by the judge.
It makes sense for a country to mention itself in its anthem, right? But the Dutch anthem mentions Spain, a different country, as the song was written when Spain colonized the Netherlands, and the lyrics say "To the king of Spain I've granted a lifelong loyalty"
The I is actually king William, and the whole song is from his perspective, making the Dutch anthem one of the world's strangest anthems.
February 21 was recognized by UNESCO as International Mother Language Day, as that was the day of the First Protest in the Bengali East Pakistan against Urdu being the official language. When East Pakistan gained independence as Bangladesh, it ended up making it Language Movement Day, and eventually it was adopted by UNESCO.
Around here, February 21st is universally recognized as my wife’s birthday. Having days for all these obscure causes is a waste of time. Those who support don’t do so because of the day. Just another thing to make people feel like they contributed when they haven’t at all.
The full version of Greece's anthem has 158 verses, though obviously only a couple are actually used. Greece and Cyprus are also the only countries which share an anthem. technically britain shares god save the queen with its commonwealth countries but they also have their own anthems
Inspired by #698 (you can find it with the search), The Nuristanis, a distinct mountainous group of Afghanistan, used to practice a local ancient religion related to Hinduism. However, most of them were converted in one year, 1895, under Abdur Rahman Khan.
Indian Actor Rajesh Khanna was married to an actress named Dimple Kapadia. Dimple's sister's name was Simple, and Dimple's daughters were named Rinkle and Twinkle.
Oh, and as a side fact, Twinkle is married to Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.
Surely it would be more logical to assume that obese people are more vulnerable to get human adenovirus since obese people have weaker immune systems. A virus that causes obesity? What exactly is the modality there? What would the virus have to gain?
Sure, but the data that actually support the hypothesis come from studies where they injected the virus into animals (mice, chickens, etc.) and then statistically significant weight gain occurred. Observing the prevalence in humans is about all we can do ethically.
