Dessert? It doesn't fit on a plate of any kind. It's a desert. (Desserts is stressed spelled backwards, that's how I learned which is which.)

The way I learned it involved how many s's are in each word. You would only want to have to cross the deSert once, but wouldn't mind eating deSSert twice.

OK, so I get that this is an April Fools quiz. So I know I am being really stupid here, but surely food grown without the use of pesticides is organic. What am I missing?

The fact that it's not organic?

Organic produce is *not* (necessarily) grown without pesticides. There are over 20 approved pesticides US farmers can use and still keep their "Organic" certification. No pesticides at all is pretty rare.
+1
Level 83
Mar 5, 2025
There are lots of pesticides approved for use on organic produce. The primary criterion to be approved is that it must be derived from natural sources (i.e not sythetic). Many require PPE for the applicator because they are toxic in concentrated form, but they usually also breakdown pretty quickly in the environment. It's not unusual for organic produce to be more heavily sprayed than non-organic. That doesn't mean much in terms of the healthfulness of the product though. It's just a common misconception that organic means unsprayed, pure, and pristine. (I am a produce farmer, not certified organic, but I maintain 99% organic practices)

You can look it up on Wikipedia! But the "drop bear" became famous from an ad for Bundaberg Rum where the mascot, a huge polar bear, fell from a tree and scared some girls from overseas. Aussie boys came to the rescue, and they all drank Bundy Rum happily ever after. There was a series of ads where the bear would help out the guys. (You can see them on Youtube)

Aussies can correct me if I am wrong.

However, there have been some recorded sightings in different parts of Australia - and these aren't the mascot!

Apr 2, 2019
Can't tell if you're joking. BUT, I'll bite - 1812 - USA tries to nick bits of Canada, gets its capital burnt down (and had tonnes of help from the French), Civil War - winning a war by fighting yourselves seems a touch desperate (and you also lost), Desert Storm and the Gulf war is the same war, and there were 5 other major nations, same with Iraq again and Afghanistan.

I might give you Mexico. 1/7's not a great score though!
