How could people not get Whistler's Mother after watching that Mr Bean movie where he accidentally destroys it? Great memories right there.

Despite seeing the Garden of Earthly Delights a hundred times I still thought it was some dada artist. Zooming into different parts of that painting look like entirely different styles.

Bosch is my favorite from this list. This triptich is out of this world. And it's painted more than 500 years ago. What a genius mind!

totally loved this! If I didn't know the artist by name, I could tell the century and country...surprised myself, but I've been studying history and it paid off. Looking up some names, I got lost in all the art...spent the whole evening looking at new (to me) art by old artists and new (to me) artists...Thank you!

Can you include the full triptych for the Garden of Earthly Delights? I think I would've recognized it if the image showed more than a small portion

I've always felt like Mr Beaky was enough to recognize the work.

Agreed. Showing only a tiny part of the hell panel is confusing.

You would need a much, much bigger picture to show the entire triptych. If you know the painting, it should be very recognizable based on the part that is displayed.

I think it's a bit presumptuous to declare that if you know the painting - a large scale triptych dominated by greens, light, and human figures - then you should recognise it from a small, dark, surreal subsection that is in contrast to the larger image.

I'm not saying you have to replace the image, but that comment comes across as unjustifiably arrogant.

Art is my trivia weak spot. I can never go on jeopardy because of this weakness. Give me geography, music, science, pop culture, history, sports, but not art. I need to learn me some art.

Wonderful quiz!! Scored a perfect 💯! Too bad more people didn't know the Velazquez painting as it is one of the most amazing excerises in perspective in the world! You are looking at the scene as the King and Queen of Spain.... who are only seen in a mirror because they are the real subject of the painting! Keep up the great art quiz series!

Consider accepting "El Bosco" as a type-in for Hieronimous Bosch. He was very popular in Spain, and that's how he is universally known here.

Maybe just accept Jheronimus Bosch, as that was his name before any anglisicms caught wind of it.

Wasn't "Garden of Earthy Delights" the whole trypich though? It would have been easier if you used the whole thing or at least the more famous centre piece.

This was one of the most recognisable paintings in the whole quiz. Who else but Bosch? OK, maybe Dali, but this is some far out stuff for 1500…
