I before E,

Except after C,

Or when it says A

Like neighbour or weigh.

But in half of all cases,

I and E still switch their places.

I before E,

Except after C,

When the sound is EE.

Obviously doesn’t work for seize tho.

I before E

Except after C

Or if you're a foreign counterfeiter, a heavyweight abseiler, an ageing neighbor, the reigning sovereign, a beige reindeer, or Keith.

Weird.

I before E,

Except after C,

Or even when it's after C

Because why not

I like the Brian Regan version:

I before E

Except after C

Or when it sounds like A

As in neighbor and weigh

And on weekends and holidays

And all throughout May

And you'll always be wrong

No matter WHAT YOU SAY!

Tough lesson to learn.

It appears as if all but one clue leaves out the creator's opinion. Why can't they all do that?

I'm referring to the tan/beige clue.

It's part of the definition, when not used as a color it is a synonym for boring.

@FatSpartanJediLlama and @Koopa: Forty years ago my wife went into a home decor store called "Industrial Revolution." As she was paying for her purchase she asked the cashier "Is everything in here either black or white?" To which he replied, with just the right amount of emphasis on the last word, "Life is not beige."

Not his favorite color either.

You will guarantee,

You won’t disagree

You wouldn’t be free

For years four or three

Because you like Tennessee

You don’t belong with me

Behind me is the key

I have no mercy

You don’t have a P.H.D.

Unlike the greatest me.

Biggest lesson in history: Tennessee is the best

Technically speaking, you're only an heir if you inherit through intestacy (lack of a will). If inheriting through a will, the term is devisee or beneficiary.

That's not necessarily a reason to change the quiz, it's just the sort of pedantic distinction I would mention here and only here in hopes that someone might enjoy the trivia
