Yes, I have heard both "birthplace of presidents" and "birthplace of astronauts." The presidents one is rarer in my experience, probably because Ohio is still second to Virginia in presidents, and because most of Ohio's presidents, frankly, were not memorable. And those who were memorable were memorable for the wrong reasons.
"Birthplace of aviation" has is on a lot of Ohio license plates. There's a feud between us and North Carolina whose motto is "first in flight" because the Wright brothers were from Ohio and built their planes there, but traveled to North Carolina to test it.
I think the motto is "Birthplace of Modern Presidents" or something similar since most of the presidents from Virginia served during the 18th and early 19th centuries. Also kept trying birthplace of "flight" instead of "aviation". Grrrrr....
