Clearly the most important "quiz" on JetPunk.
The most intellectual quiz to ever appear on JetPunk.
Cockpit, cabin, fuselage? We give you three parts of something. You tell us what it is.
Guess what each group of three things has in common. As you guess each answer correctly, it will be drawn in to create a work of art.

Never heard of the art styles, and I had three college roommates who were art majors. After I looked up the terms I realized that the wonderful picture one of them gave me is an example of pointillism. I just never knew the word for it.

I think we did pointillism back in primary school, only we didn't call it that.

I think knives should be acceptable. Types of Knives sounds better than types of knife. Never knew stiletto was a knife. I thought it was only a type of heel.

Could "sun" also be acceptable for the types of stars?
+8
Level 70
Nov 5, 2015
Sun is really just the name of our Star. Other stars have their own names such as Sirius, Rigel etc.. The clues given such as Red Giant, Neutron etc. are types of stars not names of stars.
+2
Level 72
Oct 3, 2021
The IAU (the group that assigns names to celestial bodies) has never officially given our sun a name. You often hear or read about suns that are not our own, especially in science fiction or space fantasy (the twin suns of Tatooine, for example). So, colloquially speaking, it makes perfect sense to allow it as a type-in answer.

To me, Fandango is a website where you buy movie tickets, while a Jitterbug is a phone for old people. Yeah, didn't get that one.

Really? Bohemian Rhapsody even mentions the fandango.
+1
Level 74
Jan 14, 2020
The fandango in Bohemian Rhapsody isn't a dance. It's the struggles of a hanged man.
+1
Level 83
Oct 5, 2021
Except the term "hemp fandango" for getting hanged is based on the idea that someone getting hanged will kick their legs as much as a lively fandango dance. So if you understand that the fandango can refer to being hanged, you'd probably know that the fandango is a dance in the first place. It's debatable whether fandango refers to that anyway. Since the song is probably about Mercury coming out as gay, maybe the performance references in that section of the song are about having to play a character under the scrutiny of fame? Pretending to be brave, much like a Scaramouche?

Could "baseball throw" be accepted for "pitch" for those who don't master all subtleties and technicalities of this great sport?
+5

But those listed are all specific pitches, thrown only by one player, the "pitcher".

I knew all three terms as I play baseball it still took me well over 30 seconds to get "pitch" as I was typing just as dubucannon was saying "Throws" "Baseball Throws" and finally got to "Pitches".

Quite logical in my opinion. Recognising a word or suspecting where it is from, isnt the same as really knowing it. (Like i guessed the yoga right and I have never even heard of any of them). I have heard of baseball, have even heard of fastball and i see them throwing a ball.

I recognized "bikram", but it took a little while to remember from where. It got lumped under "group gym fads", like jazzercise, group cycling, etc. for me.

My vote is for trajectory or vector(:

And yet, it happens. I knew the words, I remember I read them in the context of baseball, but I know nothing about how baseball is played, what the rules are, the name of players, ...

So I tried baseball, then throw and baseball throw, but I had no idea about "pitch"

Nope, they're all angles. If it was 'equilateral, isosceles, scalene', then triangle would be correct

The beer clue is not ideal because Pilsner and Porter are beer styles while lager is a broader classification that includes Pilsner.
+1
Level 59
Mar 9, 2018
Lager is considered a style or type of beer. If you look up the definitions for "lager," "ale," "pilsner," etc., all definitions will describe these as different types of beer. Here's an interesting article from wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_beer_styles

You should accept throw for the pitch.

Level 30
Mar 18, 2018
I'm in favour of this. I wasn't familiar with these terms, but from movies, I know that "something"ball often refers to a way of throwing a ball. And I don't see why you have to specifically write "pitch", when a pitch is a throw.
+2
Level 76
Jan 11, 2019
I second this, I tried variations of throwing and effect. If you are not american, (definately when english isn t your language) it is almost impossible to get/know.

I do know there is a pitcher and a catcher though. But I see them throwing the ball

+1
Level 74
Oct 4, 2021
Most of the "throws" in baseball are not pitches, though, and these are obviously and clearly talking about types of pitches, not types of throws (which might include, I don't know, overhand and underhand? Or lob?).

It's one of those cases where you can, in theory, torture the definition of the category to be something more general (they are also all "techniques", for example, or "sports terms") but that answer is not correct, because it renders the grouping meaningless.

If it's "banger, currywurst and andouille", the answer must be "sausages", even though, yes, technically they are also all types of "food" or "substances".
