nice! I use an Excel macro I found on the internet to find distances between cities in case you are interested - you do need latitude and longitude values though which I don't think are present on citypopulation (they are on other sites eg geonames)

Thanks! Maybe easier than the way I used; I draw circles around the biggest cities in the continent on calcmaps.com, and checked the distance on timeanddate.com.
