Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union.

Germany was split into two in 1950 and Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. Both West Germany and East Germany have enough population to be included on the list.

Russian SFSR had a population of over 100 million in the 1950's

We calculated it to only include the European Russia. The entire Russia had 102 million people.

Even with 7 modern countries in it, Yugoslavia is not part of the top 10. (to be fair, it was little countries)
