Countries (in English) that Have Special Vietnamese Names
Most countries in the world have the same name in English and Vietnamese. For example, Afghanistan is Afghanistan. Canada is Canada. However, there are about 38 countries that get their own special name, sometimes very different from the English name. Most of these are countries with particular historical significance for Vietnam or the world in general. I find it fascinating to see which ones made the cut! How many can you name? When you guess the country, its Vietnamese name will also appear.
I would suggest accepting the Vietnamese names, but that might be a problem for Italy. But if you do decide to accept them, it’s a good thing that there’s only one country starting with y.
