Hendrix is a bit complicated. He'd been drinking and took some sleeping pills to help himself sleep. Though the exact number isn't known, this is a bad combination of drugs as he was pretty drunk. He was found to be unresponsive and so they called for an ambulance to take him to the hospital. On the way to the hospital he vomited whilst unconscious. The paramedics failed to turn him on his side and he choked on his own vomit. The official cause of death was therefore asphyxiation. If you ask me it was medical malpractice and incompetence of the people attending him.
